How to unlock the A Record of Disaster achievement in Alien: Isolation - Definitive Guide

The first log you can find is on the first level.

*spoilers*

After waking up on the spaceship, get dressed and talk to the two execs from Wayland. When you talk to the lady who struggles with sleep in space there is a recess with a computer on it. Approach it, and it will prompt you to push A to read the log and achievement unlocked.

For all aliens fans these logs are fantastic references to the original.

This is the first thing you can do after waking up. Make your way to the changing room and there is a terminal to your right as you walk through the second door.

Press A to sign in to the terminal and the achievement will unlock.

Archive logs are found via the many computer terminals throughout the game and the first should be during the 1st mission, see Voices of Sevastopol for more details.
