How to unlock the I Love the Corps! achievement in Aliens Colonial Marines - Definitive Guide

After trying many ways this is the fastest way i can find... to farm marine xp replay mission 11 Home on Ultimate Badass over and over. This will net you 2850 xp in under 5 mins each time. You can do this solo or in co-op, each way is different

Solo - Only Queen spawns
Co-op - Queen and Soldiers spawn

co-op is faster. Looking in the airlock direction where the queen spawns one guy stands inside the far right container and will be keeping the queen busy while the other runs around pressing the switches. Once the 4th switch has been done both of you run over to the 5th and final switch and shoot the queen drawing her over to the loader, then flick that switch to end mission. Just watch out for the alien soldiers that keep spawning.

If the queen does not come over to the loader, then one of you will have to go over to her and lure her onto it.

Rank 60 is 234000 xp total

I strongly recommend you do all the challenges and complete campaign on Ultimate Badass before farming for xp, as by the time you have done all that you should be well into the rank 40's
(I did 1 co-op playthro on Ultimate Badass, then completed all challenges which left me at rank 48)

Edit - Just an idea on how long it takes using this solution, it took me just over a hour and half to go from rank 48 - 60

Another option is private survivor with a turbo controller. Let it run about 12 hours total the past few days, and with 20 challenges to go and UBA complete I am well above the 40 you quoted...lvl 55. Active farming is faster, but I'll take the 700ish/ 12m while I'm out or asleep!

Like I said, its not faster, but its much easier, especially if you have other commitments. Playing a few coop missions, then letting the turbo spam solo mp rounds works great if you don't want to sit there and grind one level...and it is also the easiest way to level your xeno class. By using survivor you get 300xp xeno/ 700 xp marine every match with turbo A, alone, while I slept or was out running errands or whatever. When I hit 60 my xeno was at 34.

By ScuzzyBunny on 17 Feb 2013 16:56
But by the time you get all the online challenges done, your xeno class should be around rank 24 lol

I do see what your saying, its a perfect way if you dont want to play the game much, but not the way to go if you want it done as quick as possible ;)

Great info tho.

Another great method we found yesterday and undoubtebly faster than any method is boosting smart gun kills in a private multiplayer match. Of course this requires online people to do this so its not better than your guide as far as solo play goes. But if you load up aa team deathmatch and have at least 4 people (full lobby would go much faster) have one be a marine and 3 aliens. We were netting an ASS ton of xp using the smartgun and just having the aliens run up to you. You get bonus xp for double and triple kills the whole time plus bonus xp for smart gun kills, surviving etc. Im not sure of the exact number but at the end of the match I had accumulated 5000 some odd xp for my marine. Like I said with more people you would get more kills and more xp making this even faster. Plus one to your solution as this will undoubtebly be the method I use to finish solo

The Pale Hor5e, if you have not tried since the last patch or two, give it another whirl, I was able to do 2-3 repeats without her catching me, especially with the drones not spawning. I sprinted between switches and crouched when I got to them.

So, it is doable, but who knows as they keep changing things with patches.

@ResDogsMrPink boosting like that is quick but then taking into consideration that you are boosting with a full lobby, it would be another 10 matches before you earned more xp as you would be dying for all the others going for xp. At 2860xp every 2-3 minutes, plus some loading time, this is definitely the fastest way to do it +1 for me :)

I think that this takes longer than 2-3 minutes just because of the time at the beginning of the mission you cannot skip, but I do agree that this is a lot faster than doing anything else.

In terms of co-op, this is best done with the 2nd player in the far back-left corner assuming you are looking in from the hole you made when you crash landed. This puts the queen over on the side of the 1st and 3rd switch.
If your partner is over on the right side, it brings you too close to the queen when you go for the 4th switch and she changes focus and ganks you.

As Im pulling the 4th switch, I tell my partner to draw her to the middle. I had not thought of having us both come to the 5th switch, I'll habe to try that, but I think the queen can damage you while you are at the 5th switch.

Oh, and for those looking to rank up their Alien as fast as possible, loading up a Private Survival match with a partner is the fastest. Have the Xenos kill the marines and the round will end. Each match gives you 550xp for your Xeno for winning and like 450 for losing.
I think your Marine also gets 200-300 xp as well.

Just figured out a way to make the level grinding go even faster!

If you do it right, you'll only need to pull the first switch of the last mission on Ultimate Badass, and then the level will end, and you'll still get the 2860 xp.

What you need to do, after the level starts and you jump out of the dropship window, you want to go and stand behind the cargo launcher, facing the outside. Don't go too far, as the wind/vacuum can suck you out and kill you. Just park your butt to the back of the cargo launcher. Once the Queen spawns, she'll ignore you, since she still needs to do her scripted movement toward the dropship. Once that scripted movement is over, she'll try to get to you, so you'll want to wait till she's on the same side of the cargo launcher you are standing, facing the outside, and once she is, run past her and pull the first switch!

The Queen will then bug out, be pushed back a few feet, then she'll just glitch and fly out of the ship! The ending cutscene will then play, and the level will end.

In my testing, I've been able to get this to work every single time I've tried it. Wish I had found this out when I first started grinding for rank 60, would have saved me a few hours, but I didn't until rank 57, Oh well.

Hope this helps!

Took me a second to figure out the positioning. A video would have helped a lot lol. But it definitely works a treat, probably a little easier with two people as you can have someone stand by the switch and pull it once she comes over to you but solo is just fine.

I could not for the life of me get this to work unless I let the queen hit me. After getting knocked down, the queen turns its back. When the player is back up, the queen will turn back to face them. This turning seems to freeze the queen in place long enough for me to run to the button and get the glitch to work.

Otherwise she'd somehow teleport to the other side of the launcher by the time I use the button.

but yes, this makes leveling up super fast and takes the annoyance of completing this level legit over and over.

I also like how this bug turns the alien queen into a cartoon character. after it gets thrown out, you can see it running in place suspended in air before it drops to its death.

~40% of the time I'll get it first try, but the other 60% it takes me 2-5 attempts because the queen isn't close enough to the fire when I pull the switch, despite employing the exact same strategy each time. Even tried following the video as well as the suggestion of letting the queen hit you, but nothing is consistent.

The solution is good, but "I've been able to get this to work every single time I've tried it" is a kick in the gut to those less fortunate.

This is awesome.

Gonna elaborate because I was a little slow on the startup and misread the explanation.

So you stand at the entrance to the hanger, (the side you would hit the Alien Queen with) and closer to the dropship that Cruz is in.

So again, the front of the rammer, not behind it towards all the panels and crap.

The Queen will basically step over you when she crawls in and walk around to the other side. When she does and you get the prompt to kill her, she'll walk back to you and around to the front of the rammer (I was assuming I had to hit the button to back it into her but that isn't the case.)

Let her walk up to the front of the rammer, run past her and hit the first switch. The movement of the platform away from her will cause her to just bounce out.

And a vid to help. Thanks to code13324124 for the video!

Reaching level 60 goes pretty fast since progress towards your ranks can be earned through all game modes. One great method for earning XP (aside from completing challenges) is to play a 2 vs. 2 Extermination private match. (Note: host will always be an alien for the 1st round) When you're a marine, each of you take a waypoint to stand in a circle to destroy eggs. Destroy as many as you can before time runs out. By the end of the round, you'll easily have over 1,000 XP earned. As an alien, just chill.

Experience is earned from kills, collectables, completing challenges, match bonuses and campaign chapters completed. Assists are unconfirmed.

Mission 11 (Home) is a great way to rank up too. Complete this mission on Ultimate Baddass for around 2,800 XP. This level is incredibly easy with 2 people, one occupying the queen and the other presses the first 4 buttons. Meet up behind the last button, wait for the queen to get on the path and BAM! Let her have it.

This will likely be one of the final trophies that you earn in the game. Rank 60 requires a total of 234,000XP and even after cleaning up the majority of other trophies in the campaign, you may find that you’re still a way off of this target.

The most efficient way to earn a large amount of XP in a short space of time is to constantly replay the final chapter, Home, on Ultimate Badass difficulty. This mission doesn't take very long and once you get a rhythm going, you can earn just under 3,000 XP in about 5 minutes. I found it much easier and more efficient to grind for this XP with two players. Once the mission starts, have one player hide in the container to the right of the conveyor belt and shoot the Queen to get her attention. If successful she should be entirely focused on that player, which grants the other one free roam of the hangar. This player can then activate all four switches to pull the cargo back and then make their way to the release button. Once there, Player 1 can exit the container via the back way and coax the Queen towards the conveyor belt. Take cover next to the release button where the Queen won't be able to hit you, press it to eject her from the hangar and complete the mission.

With a second person and using this method, we were able to gain 2,800-2900 XP every 5 minutes. Thanks to Grenadier_12 for helping me to refine this technique and test it with me.

It’s better to play online in the “Team Battle” mode because... for one full kill they give +50 Exp.
