How to unlock the Chalk It Up To Experience achievement in Aliens: Dark Descent - Definitive Guide

Location: Atmospheric Processor 27 (outside)
Deploy Only 2 Marines

Dropship Barrage Fire on 1 Marine, wait till it's about to end so you dont kill him. The other Marine sets a Deployable Motion Tracker on a safe distance.

Carry wounded/coma Marine back to the APC and extract. With luck, the Marine should be Amputated when arriving back to the mission report screen, if so, head to the Medical Quarters and do a Prothesis Operation. Sometimes it operates in the same missing limb. Rinse and repeat until 1 Marine has 2 Prostheses on different limbs.

A note you can see limb blown off. You can check in menu before extraction to save a save if on no one can hear you scream mode

I used full squad to maximaze my chances. Got 2 amputees from single barrage. This made my chances higher in the next round as well, dropping barrage on 2 amputees.
You can easily check if they lost a limb if their wound status says "arm/leg injury that can't be treated here" or something like that.

.
I'm still attempting this double amputee and I'm on playthrough #3.

What about the bleeding achievement?
I don't have that either while on my 3rd playthrough.

Thanks.

A tedious trophy that depends on chance. In my opinion, it is easier to get this trophy in the following way. After you complete the 4th mission, where you need to defend Otago, you will have access, after training, to the ability "Barrage Fire". So, with the help of this rocket salvo, you can get this trophy without exposing the marines to xenomorphs. But before that, copy, just in case, save.
Visual video for understanding link .

A few nuances:
1. The "Barrage" ability can only be used in open areas and only if your Marines are not within its range at the time the area of fire is specified.
2. Before attempting to complete the trophy conditions, I recommend finding a place near the APC and saving before doing so.
3. Next, bring the Marine to the edge of the affected area and then one of three random options can happen: the Marine will be killed by a hit, the Marine will be in a coma (you can complete the trophy "Damn Dude, You Gotta Lose Some Weight!" if you take such a Marine to the APC and evacuate) and, finally, the third option - the Marine will have a limb torn off (also random). After this, load the wounded into the APC and evacuate.
4. After Otago replaces his lost limb with a prosthesis (10 materials) and heals him (the number of days will depend on the available medics, but it will still take a few more game days, keep in mind) so that he can return to duty. Take him on the mission again and repeat the random with the "Barrage" ability until the marine loses another limb. For those who don't understand, the marine needs to have two prostheses on different limbs .
5. Be patient, there will be a lot of rebooting.

P.S. It took me about 20-30 minutes to do everything, maybe you'll be luckier. Good luck!

Be careful! Two different endings must be torn off. I had a situation when a soldier's leg was torn off, I installed a prosthesis for him, then his leg was torn off again, but they did not give him a trophy, since the already installed prosthesis was torn off and, in fact, I simply replaced it with a new one, but the damaged ending in the end is only one - the leg. It is necessary for both legs to be torn off, either in the arms or in combination.
I'll explain it a little more broadly: there are three stages of a soldier - death, coma, injury. We need to catch the injury. And so that an icon like a bandaged foot appears above the marine's name. After that, we grab him, drag him to the APC, evacuate, amputate his leg in the medical block and put in an iron prosthesis for 10 materials and one doctor. We land a new one on the planet with the same guy, repeat the same thing with the missiles and this character a second time to get a second prosthesis. I'll say right away, this whole scheme is a complete pain in the ass, it's a matter of luck, maybe you'll do it in five minutes, or maybe in a day. Personally, I spent a lot of time to get the second prosthesis, it was faster with the first one.

Also, a soldier's limb can be torn off not only by a missile salvo, if anything. My soldier got a leg wound in a fight with a regular xenomorph when it bit him. But the probability of this is extremely low. During the entire time of playing and getting platinum, this trick only happened twice. The inscription "wound" and the icon of a damaged leg will notify you of what happened.

The method above with "barrage fire" is the most effective, but I will add a couple of tips from myself.
If you play without backups of saves + trying to get this trophy on an easy playthrough with "no one will hear you scream", then in order not to screw up the save it is better to do this:
1. We complete some mission to the end, before evacuation we save through "rest"
2. We do the "barrage fire" thing, evacuate the injured marine and just continue playing.
3. When he leaves the infirmary, take him on a sortie and repeat steps 1-2

Note that amputation takes 10 days and 10 materials, so it is better to start doing this trophy right after the fourth mission. so that there is a reserve on the timer until the end of the game.

A few nuances:
1. The "Defensive Fire" ability can only be used in open areas and only if your Marines are not within its radius at the time the area of fire is indicated.
2. Before trying to fulfill the conditions of the trophy, I recommend finding a place not far from the armored personnel carrier and saving before doing so.
3. Next, bring the Marine to the edge of the affected area and then there may be one of three random options: the Marine will be killed by a hit, the Marine will be in a coma (you can complete the trophy “Damn Dude, You Gotta Lose Some Weight! / Looks like someone is eating too much !" if you take such a Marine to an armored personnel carrier and evacuate) and, finally, the third option - the Marine will have a limb torn off (also random). After this, load the wounded into the armored personnel carrier and evacuate.
4. After his lost limb is replaced in Otago with a prosthetic limb and treated so that he can return to duty. Take him on the mission again and repeat randomly with the “Defensive Fire” ability until the Marine loses another limb. For those who don’t understand, it is necessary for a Marine to have two prostheses on different limbs.

Be careful! There should be two different endings. After that, we grab him, drag him into the armored personnel carrier, evacuate, amputate his leg in the medical unit and install an iron prosthesis for 10 materials and one doctor. We land on the planet again with the same person, repeat the same thing with rockets and this person a second time to get a second prosthesis. I’ll say right away that this whole scheme is complete hemorrhoids, depending on your luck, maybe you’ll do it in five minutes, or maybe in a day. Personally, I spent a lot of time getting the second prosthesis; the first one was faster.

Also, a soldier’s limb can be torn off not only by a missile salvo, if that happens. My soldier received a leg injury in a battle with an ordinary xenomorph when he was bitten by him.
