How to unlock the Radical Acceptance achievement in Alone in the Dark - Definitive Guide

IMPORTANT NOTE - if you have played through the game with both characters and collected all of the Lagniappes already (or at least the Dying With Dignity Lagniappes in this case) you can reload a late save for Emily to grab this quickly, just note you'll need a save that's prior to or in the old-school fixed camera section (Dr. Gray's office - both characters will be here at the same place and the camera and format changes, so it's hard to miss) as you need to interact with paint thinner on the dresser in the closet for this ending to be viable.

The Lagniappes stack even on older saves, so when you've picked them up, you've picked them up on old, new and future campaigns.

For this achievement, you'll need to play Emily's campaign and pick up all the Lagniappe items in the 'Dying With Dignity' set. This set consists of the following:

Sheet Music (Chapter 2): At the cemetery where you need to collect three discs in separate tombs, the third tomb has a chase sequence. Once you pick up the third disc, turn right and through the doorway, but before going up the little ledge, look to the left. There will be a crevice you can go through. The lagniappe will be on a coffin inside.

War Photo (Chapter 4, Emily only): Once you get to chapter four, head for Ruth's room. The lagniappe will be on the bedside table.

Toe Tag (Chapter 4, Emily only): After the trench section, you'll find yourself in a cellar being used as an archive/morgue. After getting the 'Truth' key that will lead you out of the war zone section, check the corpses laying on the ground in the corridor between the archive and the exit and pick up the lagniappe from one of the bodies.

Once you've picked all of the lagniappes up, you can proceed as you would up until the point where you get to the fixed camera section in Dr Gray's apartment where Emily and Edward finally get to hang out for a bit. After having cleared the first room, you'll get to the bedroom. You'll need to go into the walk-in-closet (NOT the wardrobe that brings you to the next area) which is tucked in by the door you entered through and the actual bedroom space (this is also the room you'll find the key in by a covered mirror frame in the corner). On your way into the walk-in-closet, there will be an interactible item on the dresser to the right. Interact with it and choose to use paint thinner on the painting in your inventory. This is what will make the ending possible - you're not done yet though!

In the next snowy section, save just to be safe in case you have trouble in the cutscene prompt.

After solving the glowing puzzle in the snowy mountains, an enemy will spawn. Kill him and a cutscene will play out - DO NOT SKIP THIS CUTSCENE. Instead, wait it out until you see the Dark Man, and Emily raising her gun. When she does, you'll hear the sound of a clock slowing down - pull the left stick to the RIGHT until Emily puts two fingers up, bringing the gun down.

Ending sorted~

*GLITCHED*

You'll need all three items in the 'Dying with Dignity' lagniappes set for this. If you have the full set, you can scrub the paint off Jeremy's portrait as Emily during Chapter 4. After opening the hidden passage through the closet in Doctor Gray's Apartment, you'll be presented with the option to wipe the paint away, earning the chance to then submit to the Dark Man, and unlock this.

This is currently glitched, as the objective required to submit to the Dark Man fails to trigger.

1. Playing as Emily, collect the “Death with Dignity” kit
2. In Chapter 4, in Dr. Gray's room, when you find the key to the closet, wash the paint off Jeremy's painting.
3. At the end of Chapter 4, during the cutscene in which Emily stands in front of the Dark Man, hold down the "left stick up"

My left stick did not work in the cutscene, the following helped me: left stick down, right stick up (Emily will lower the gun in one hand and raise the other hand, i.e. we control the sticks with each hand).
To understand at what point in the cut-scene to move the sticks, listen: the clock will tick and time will slow down.

It only worked for me when I pointed the left stick to the upper right corner

Left stick to the lower right corner, if by the clock, then at 17 o'clock

To do this, you will need all three items from the Die with Dignity set. If you have the full set, you can erase the paint from Jeremy's portrait as Emily in Chapter 4. After you open the secret passage in the closet in Dr. Gray's apartment, you will be given the opportunity to erase the paint, giving you the chance to submit to the Dark Man and unlock his.
This is currently glitching as the target required to subdue the Dark Man is not triggering.

The left stick must be held exactly to the right when the clock ticks, which will appear if all the conditions are met:
1) Collect all the “A Dignified Death” gifts
2) In chapter 4 in Gray’s chambers (2nd floor), when searching for the key, interact with the picture on the table (secret sign)
3) Hold the left stick to the right
You can collect items and get the trophy ONLY for Emily.
