How to unlock the Nobody Knows What Happened achievement in Alone in the Dark - Definitive Guide

This achievement has been glitched since April 22 and will not unlock under any circumstances. It is expected to be fixed in the next patch, which does not have a date yet.

I have reported this to the games publisher, THQ Nordic and would appreciate if you would be able to report it as well to make sure they address this issue in the next patch. To report follow this link and scroll down to Alone in the Dark.

To my knowledge they have not commented on this issue as of May 10, 2024 and recently an unknown number of staff have been laid off, so it is important to bring this to their attention in case they are planning on not updating the game further.

UPDATE: THQ Nordic has responded to this achievement being bugged on May 22, 2024. They stated “We are aware of these issues and are already working on fixing them. We are aiming to address them as part of a big patch that will also address other issues and include a few surprises.”

you can still make the achievement appear offline with an older version on physical CD

I tried this 4 times offline without the patch. I tried with both Emily and Edward. I didn't have any luck in getting the achievement to unlock either.

Is this achievement supposed to be for finding the noose and watching the cutscene with Jeremy? And/Or is this one of those endings where you're supposed to press and hold the D-pad in a particular direction at a certain time (that seems to be a theme with some of these)?

Yes it is for finding the noose and watching the cutscene with Jeremy in the attic Ch 4. For it to appear you have to collect 3 specific lagniappes.

Patch 1.05 released today on 29 May 2024 fixed the issue for me, however my screen still turns black once I solve the very next puzzle so it's going back onto the pile of TBC games until another patch is released...

I had that issue on my first playthrough with the screen going black. If you reload a previous save before you entered the attic you should be able to get pass the puzzle. Also don't make any manual saves in the attic. I belive that is what causes the black screen to appear after solving the puzzle.

Again, this requires a completed set of lagniappes. Collect all three items in 'The Hartwood Curse' lagniappes set, then interact with the noose in the Derceto Manor Attic during Chapter 4 to earn this secret cutscene and this achievement. You can do this as Emily or Edward.

Even the disc version does not allow you to get this trophy. I deleted the game, turned off the Internet, reinstalled it, went through to the moment with the gallows, and all the conditions were met and no big deal, it just throws me out of the game at the end of the video, it says an error. It’s a shame because this is the only trophy left for platinum.

Collect all three presents for the Curse of the Hartwoods set and go up to the attic in Chapter 4. Here, approach the loop and interact with it. After that, you will receive the trophy. Can be obtained for any hero.
