How to unlock the Teetotaller achievement in Alone in the Dark - Definitive Guide
- Play on Easy difficulty, most enemies die in 2-3 shots
- Always Dodging (for some reason the game never explicitly teaches you there's a dodge)
- Deaths are okay, as long as you reload from a manual save*
- Valid with either Edward or Emily
- Valid with any ending (best to wait until at least your second playthrough, so you can do one of the "secret" endings that skips the final boss fight)
*Currently, as of Apr 2024, this achievement is buggy and doesn't consistently unlock. What has been working for most people is if you only use manual saves to reload after a death.

Pressing on the d-pad will see your chosen character downing a swig of booze to top up their health, so if you want to earn this, stay the hell away from the button. Should you accidentally neck a shot, stop and reload your save. Be sure to use to dodge enemy attacks, and if you can avoid combat altogether, that'll prove helpful too (press to sneak). You can also complete the game early by giving Grace the 'All the World's a Stage' lagniappes set, ending the game without needing to fight the final boss, which is handy. It also goes without saying that you should attempt this at Easy difficulty.
