How to unlock the Building a Deadlier Mousetrap achievement in Alpha Protocol - Definitive Guide

There is an even easier way to get this achievement without having to use any money or take up any important slots during your missions.

During the training exercise with Darcy when he teaches you about concussion grenades, aim down at the counter that is in front of you until you see a red outline of a grenade. Once you see the outline, throw the grenade and it should stick to the counter. After planting 5-7 grenades in the same spot (any more and they will start to disappear), get as close to the counter as possible and tap the RB button. The grenade you throw should stick to the counter near the other grenades but will not be a trap grenade like the others and should detonate itself and all the other grenades. Rinse and repeat and the achievement is yours.

NManders mentions you can mount "five to seven" concussion grenades, but you are only allowed five. Mounting a sixth causes the oldest one to despawn, leaving five continuously.

In addition, I found it much easier to stick the grenades to the floor in a corner and toss the sixth grenade in to detonate them as I walked away toward the restocking cabinet. Sicking them to the counter or walls gave me all sorts of difficulty detonating the planted grenades for some reason.

This trophy unlocks when you detonate 100 devices, and can be unlocked at the beginning of the game.

During the tutorial sections, you will go through Darcy's gadget training. You will be required to pick up explosive grenades from a cabinet and complete Darcy's small grenade training. Instead of completing his training, you can denote the grenades during the training and it will not cost you any money.

Place five grenades on the floor or counter by aim down and pressing and holding R1. You can only place five at a time, and placing a six one will remove a previous placed one. Once you have your five down, back up, aim another grenade so it lands close or on the ones you placed. It will denote the others.

Go to the cabinet, get more grenades, and complete 19 more times. Should take you no longer than 20-25 minutes.

If you leave negative feedback, please let me know so I can correct. Thanks!

There are two ways to go about this achievement. There is the easy way, or there's the somewhat annoying way.

The easy way can only be done at the very beginning of the game. After customizing Mike, you will be given the option by Westridge to either go and finish some training exercises, or meet back with him. During this time, you'll want to go through the Gadget Training with Sean Darcy, which you'll start by going to a nearby locker and grabbing some gadgets. You will be told by him to lob grenades at some targets, but don't do that right away. Instead, plant these grenades by either looking all the way down at the ground, or near a wall while holding . If close enough, a red silhouette will appear, and once you release , your grenade will be planted. Keep planting all your grenades in the same area until you get to your last one, which you'll want to throw into the group. If done correctly, all the grenades will blow up. From there, just go back to the locker for more grenades, and repeat until you get the achievement.

If you're already past this point in the game, you'll have to follow the somewhat annoying way. After you finish a mission, always stock up on more Remote Mines via the Clearinghouse. They can be thrown, but will not detonate until you hit again. Just use them like you would a normal grenade against enemies, and eventually the achievement will unlock.

You will need Concussion Grenades, EMP Charges, Explosive Grenades, Flashbangs, Incendiary Bombs, Shock Traps, or Remote Mines, and of course 100 poor schmucks to lure to their doom. Two things to remember. First, the devices have to be placed, not thrown. Hold the button and approach a wall until the outline of the device appears. Release to stick it in position. Second, the device has to go off for it to count. Luckily the enemy doesn't have to die. As long as it detonates, it counts towards the total.

An easier way to get this trophy is in the first section of Technical Ops Orientation, since you have access to unlimited concussion grenades from the storage cabinet. Place 5 concussion grenades on the wall (any more than 5 and they'll de-spawn), then throw one at them to blow them up. After the 100th detonation, the trophy will unlock. Credit to choolwhip for the farming tip.

We buy 100 Remote Mines and at the beginning of each mission we throw them and explode them non-stop (you won’t be able to take 100 mines with you anyway). As a result, somewhere on mission 4-5, depending on the capacity of your equipment, you will receive this trophy.
