How to unlock the Technophile achievement in Alpha Protocol - Definitive Guide
This is definetly a little easier if you buy armour with atleast 6 inventory slots. (this can be done with out the armour however you will need to rely on finding enough gadgets in the level)
With you new armour buy 6 different gadgets, i recommend the sound generator, emp charge x2, health, epinepherine x2, mine x2, any grenade x2. Depending on the armour you may not be able to carry 2 of each item but if you can then do so.
At the start of any mision use 1 of each gadget straight away (if you have 2 then you have a spare to use in the mission). The only one that you have to wait to use in the health but use that when needed and the sound generator can be used numerous times.
During the 5th mission that you do this, after you use the health the achieve should pop up.
There are not set missions this has to be done on so the choice of missions is completly up to you.
As mentioned in the comments by Vannos - the cheevo should pop when you use the 6th gadget during your 5th mission of having used 6 gadgets and you need not wait till the mission ends.
There is no tracking for this, the achievement will pop as you use the 6th gadget for the 5th stage.
The key reason I've added this guide though is that certain gadgets will only count if they're activated. I had to do way more than 5 stages to work out what was wrong. Simply throwing out a Remote Mine or Spark Trap would not count for me, it needed to actually detonate for it to count (setting it off with a grenade did NOT count) and it felt like the EMP didn't count unless it turned something off, so use one to turn off an alarm or a door lock or something (rather than selecting it with the d-pad).
It also can't hurt to choose gadgets other than Incendiary or Explosive grenades as they show up often, that way you find one on the stage you can use that too for a 7th just in case.
There are two ways you can go about this, and it all comes down to preference. When you start the game, by default, you cannot equip six different gadgets. The two options you have to increase how many gadgets you carry is by either going down the Technical Aptitude and getting each version of the Gadgeteer, or by wearing heavier armor. Most armor will give you an extra gadget slot, you'll have to buy a tactical vest if you want to get the 6 different gadget spots you need. If you do not invest at all into the Technical Aptitude skill tree, you will need to buy the Tactical Utility Armor for $50,000.
Once that's done, just buy any gadget you can. Price doesn't matter as long as each gadget is different, so buy whatever you want. Offensive gadgets don't even need to hit their targets, so long as they are thrown. Also, Sound Generators can be used an infinite amount of times, as long as you have one.
Make sure that you do not try to do this on any of the missions listed in One With the Shadows if you plan on getting that achievement, as you will alert nearby enemies.
In the Technical Aptitude skill tree, the Gadgeteer skill is unlocked at ranks 7 and 14 granting you an additional gadget slot. Also, most armors grant you 1-2 additional slots for carrying gadgets into the field. Whatever the combination, load up with 6 different gadgets and use one of everything in the mission. At the end of five missions where you used six different gadgets in each mission, you will get the trophy.
If you play through the stealth branch and wear the appropriate armor, then I can disappoint you, because... Even the best armor has only 5 slots for stealth, and to get the 6th slot you will have to level up the Gadgeteer skill in the Technical Aptitude branch.
If you play as an “action fighter,” then there will be no problems, because... Many types of armor available already have 6 slots at the beginning.
