This is pretty self explanatory. One step is the equivalent to one “block” or space that you move. You can track this from the main menu by pressing 
and clicking on the trophy icon in the bottom right corner. There is a challenge labeled “total steps”
I unlocked this achievement about within 4-5 hours into the game with normal play through.
