How to unlock the Pathfinder achievement in Amnesia: Rebirth - Definitive Guide

Following on from the last achievement Gunner you will find your trapped under a heavy gun, push on the analogues to free yourself. Move the small orange lever so you can rotate the tank. Rotate it enough so you are able to open one of the doors to climb out.
Head behind the tank and towards the door by some rails is a greenish wheel that you need to turn to drain the water on your left. After it has drained head down to the left where it drained and interact with the broken stone wall to gain entrance.
Head down the pipes and turn left and drop into the room/cistern area. Head forward and move the barrels and sacks away that are blocking the door. Head right, right again and in to the big open area. Turn the wheel on the right to release the platforms and then parkour your way onto the first one and go inside. Follow the small passageway round and out the second one. Move up and through the doorway. Head down the steps, left through the doorway and head down the stairs. Continue on heading downstairs into a room with a small gear puzzle. Grab the gear from the shelf on the right of the door you came in and place it on the spot between the other gears. Turn the green wheel and head through the metal gate before it closes.
When you progress the gate will close behind you, blocking your path back. To open the next gate you have to turn the wheel on the right side of the room and then run around and through. Hold LT to run.
Head downstairs into a sort of puzzle room with 3 wheels. Turn the first wheel to release some other platforms like before and then use the second/middle wheel to move the big swinging bell thing between them. Head around and jump across twice, crouch and head inside the tunnels. Take every left turn and interact with the platform door in front to break the chain and open it fully. Head right through this newly opened door and head right back up the stairs to the 3 wheels again. First turn the left wheel to bring the platforms back in, use right/third wheel to raise the bell thing as high as you can and then quickly turn the left/first wheel to bring out the platforms again, keeping the bell up high for you to get across. Head left and back through into the tunnels and follow them around and up where it will be slightly lit up and dug out by something.. climb out on top of the bell and head left, parkouring across as best you can. Head down the stairs and interact with the wheel and proceed through the door.
As I headed forward towards the stairs I saw the event happen but I crouched straight away and hid to the right of the stairs I couldn't see anything so went around and headed downstairs with no issues. This might be dependent on difficulty you are playing. Down here I went around the right way and entered another tunnel in the wall at the front. Follow the tunnels around and drop out into a big open area. Pick up a brick from the floor and throw it up at the wood above and it should drop wood below into the water. Jump into the shallow pool and turn the wheel down there to release the water. Jump back up and as the water is rising, arrange the wooden doors to create a bridge across. Jump across when the water is high enough and enter the tunnel crouching.
You now have a chance to unlocked a missable achievement called Can-Opener:
It is quite simple to get. As you head through the small tunnel after raising the water, you will see a small wheel in front of you, interact and turn this to unlock the Can-Opener achievement.
Continue on and drop out of the tunnel and into some water. Interact with the metal gate opposite where you dropped down and break the metal bar to gain entrance. Pass through crouching but don't linger as I think you can drown. Keep moving through until you see a gate underwater you can break and move through. Use the wheel on the right side to drain the water, pass through the cistern and drop out.
Look up and you can see the areas you were passing around previously. Head forward towards the sun light and walk through the water. When you get to the end, turn around. Follow the light into the small tunnel in the wall and unblock it, draining the water. Continue through.
My achievement notifications weren't popping correctly for me at this point so I cannot say when exactly this achievement popped but it should be around this time or after the loading screen, continuing with any button or next cut scene.
I also unlocked the following missable achievement here in this area called Caregiver:
Keep pressing the B button to check on your baby and this should unlock. Be warned, I did also press it a few times throughout the playthrough of this level but it definitely unlocked after unlocking the Pathfinder achievement.

Story Related
This will unlock once you've completed the chapter The Cistern and end up in the Oasis. You can get Can-opener in this chapter, so please see that trophy to make sure you don't miss it.
For collectible purposes, there are 0 Hank Notes you need to pick up in this chapter for Crewmember , ~5 regular notes you can read for Archivist , and 1 Recorded Memory you need for Curator . Please see the Collectible Guide for more detailed instructions on where to find these.
This will for the most part be a straight forward chapter, but there is one puzzle that you'll come to that involves 3 valves, 2 extended platforms, and 1 large barrel. And a partridge in a pear tree.
The left valve extends/retracts the two platforms, the middle valve moves the barrel left and right, and the right valve moves the barrel up and down. To start, use the middle valve to move the barrel so it's sitting between the two hatches/platforms. Use the left valve to extend the platforms. Jump on the the first platform, then onto the barrel, and then onto the second barrel. Go through the tunnel and turn left before you reach the lit area. Follow it to the end and remove the knife from the chain so the hatch opens up. Make your way back to the valves.
Use the left valve to retract the platforms. If you didn't notice it just before, the wooden block/pulley holding the barrel moves on a set pathway. Using the middle lever, move the barrel so the block/pulley is just below a "pathway" leading up, just above the platform on the right. Use the right valve to move the barrel all the way up. When you let go of the valve, the barrel will slowly start to drop down. Quickly use the left valve to extend the platforms again.
Make your way onto the first platform and go through the newly opened hatch and make your way around to the right, then to the left towards the lit pathway. Take the first left and follow it to the end to reach the barrel. Make your way across the platforms from here.
