First,switch the game difficulty to easy.
The 'Battle of Lidzbark' is the last mission of the second German story.
This is a real time game,but you still can freeze the time by use
.When time freeze,the timer counter freeze too. So you can control the units as you want without out of control.Be patient to retreat every units when they nearly dead. And let the unit regroup then back in the battle as they can. Keep the Catapults keep firing to destroy the buildings. Save the game frequently.
I finsh the mission in 22 minutes(in real time about a hour.)

I run out of food about half way through and my troops lose all steam.

The time limit is actually very lenient. I finished in 19min + change. The only finicky part is the initial assault since the ally AI sometimes gets trashed instantly.
At first opportunity punch through (or slip past) the battle at the gates with your cavalry to hit the enemy archers at the rear, simultaneously gaining vision so that your catapults can target their barracks/archery range/stables located in the back of the base. Your cav will die to the tower fire but that's fine, replace with archers and proceed to steamroll the villages. Before giving the suicide charge order however, make sure your villages aren't at risk of being overwhelmed.
Spears in spear wall formation are nearly impervious to peasants. Use one or two of the starting spear units to plug the constant stream coming from the north while you assault the main base.
After clearing the village in the north leave one archer unit in the swamp water. They can snipe the peasants as they spawn while staying untouched since peasants move so slowly in the swamp.

I'm sure you got it by now but for posterity: After the initial base assault go to the northern village first and loot the food carts there. Additionally you can spam use the church buffs on cooldown to negate food consumption.
