How to unlock the Apex! achievement in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey - Definitive Guide
There's a total of 8 Apex Predators, best weapon to use is the sharpened stick
Crocodile - Found mostly in swamps in the Jungle, Woodland, and Savanna
Hyena - All over the Savanna in packs
Black-Backed Jackal - In the Savanna. Found mine at the Rock Arrow Oasis along the river and the Savanna/Canyon border near The Broken Arch
Golden/Black/White Machairodus (Saber-tooth) - Gold and Black can spawn behind you practically everywhere however it seems the White one doesn't spawn in the Jungle, only the Woodland/Savanna/Beach
Eagle - You can find one right at the beginning of the game. Just Outside the starting settlement there's a tall tree with an nest. Just stand in the nest and wait. Otherwise climbing a tall cliff at waiting there will also spawn one.
Pelican - At the Beach, Just like the eagle climb a tall cliff and wait

One big tip about the Machairodus colors.
It works a bit differently from the rest of the animals and if you haven't gotten a whitey yet, then this is important:
The game generates 1 'Stalker' Machairodus with a random colour. He will regularly keep spawning behind you (in any biome) out of nowhere to ambush you, until you kill it. When dead, it will remain dead until you jump ahead in time by generation leap or evolution, at which point a new one will be generated.
This is the ONLY Machairodus that can be white. If you still need to get the white one but the current stalker is a different colour, then you need to kill the current stalker and jump ahead in time to roll a new one.
(I can confirm it's biome independent, I did manage to get a white stalker in the jungle)
Jungle/Lake/Woodlands also have "normal" persistent Black and Gold Machairodi that behave like other animals rather than spawning out of thin air.
These Black Machairodi have a small territory like most animals and will never stray far from it, whereas the Golden Machairodi will wander freely.

.
The current guide doesn't mention how to attack.
How do we attack with a sharpened stick?
What buttons are pressed (XBox)?
Should we bring a kid and another adult for the fight?
What other weapons are possible to make and use?
Can we kill a snake? That's the first predator (and only so far) that I've seen.
This guide can be much more informative and proofread.
