This requires you to get enough XP orbs during a run to reach level 10. You'll likely need to survive around seven or eight minutes to get to level 10. If you haven't already, pause the game and turn on auto aim to make things easier. Your top priority to survive should be taking out spaceships since their projectiles can quickly fill up the screen.
In terms of upgrades, damage and offensive stuff should be top priority. A second cannon shot is huge, as are the missiles, which are amazing. Asteroids and spaceships come in such large numbers as you go that you have no chance of keeping up if you don't constantly improve your offensive. You'll also be getting hit a lot, so grab the shield upgrades too. Stuff that improves grabbing XP is useless because it already attracts to you pretty much entirely across the screen.
Worst case, you'll need to amass some money from runs to upgrade between runs. Go for damage and shield entirely, and it'll help you survive longer in future runs.
