How to unlock the Totally Perfect Nerd achievement in Angry Video Game Nerd I & II Deluxe - Definitive Guide

You must not die on ALL stages in the game. This does not have to be done back to back. Stages completed perfectly will either be gold or have the word perfect under them.

If you read any Steam forums/videos on the game/games keep in mind that the PC versions and deluxe editions have some slight differences. The achievement includes AVGN1, AVGN2 and Tower. This also includes the 2 tutorials and boss fight stages. .

Here is what you should do first:
-start a new game on EASY
-get all of the characters and weapons
-get all of the N.E.R.D. letters from each stage
-get all pickles/future nerds
-beat all of the stages including the Tower stages
-use the JUSTIN BAILEY skin

By this point, you should have all the other achievements. You should also have the Justin Bailey skin(METROID). This suit allows Nerd to shoot the 3 way blaster all the time. It will make a little bit of a difference on some stages and boss fights.

MOST of the stages can be beaten perfectly after a few attempts and are pretty short. There are 5 or 6 stages that will probably give you the most trouble. Virtual Insanity is in my opinion the toughest. The other stages that I think will take the most time are: LJN, Haunted House and the Terrible Tower stages.

This is my advice on how to do this best:
-use the JUSTIN BAILEY suit; ------ ------
-beat all the boss fight stages in AVGN 2 perfect
-beat all AVGN 2 stages perfect(ignore Virtual Insanity)
-beat all AVGN 1 stages perfect(ignore LJN and Haunted House)
-take on Virtual Insantiy; watch the video, play the stage over and over
-while practicing for VI and LJN, quit the stage just before completing in order to save time from rolling the credits
-LJN has a short section that can be skipped by jumping over it
-beat LJN and the other stages you have yet to beat perfectly

I found that by forcing myself to take on virtual insanity first, I was able to hone my nerd skills and beat the other stages with less effort. I played VI a few times everyday until I was able to beat in in 1 or 2 deaths.

This is a playlist of all stages completed perfectly.

To clarify, this guide is only showing six difficult stages without deaths. A key to doing this process is replay the stages to the point you memorize em well. Also boss stages are very short making those much easier to do. The rest aren't as tough as the ones I'm showing in the video. Maybe this will help make getting the most difficult achievement a bit easier.

The best way to do this is definitely to start a new game (if you're playing on a different difficulty) and choose Easy, fewer enemies, fewer obstacles, you can take more hits and deal more damage.

You can play on easy difficulty: enemies and bosses are weaker, there are fewer obstacles, more health, and bosses will always have a keg of beer lying on them. The main problem will be traps and chasms. I also recommend setting "auto-shooting" in the settings. Apparently, this is a bug, but holding down the shoot button and taking damage will increase the shooting speed and bosses will be taken out in seconds.
It is also advisable to find all the characters in the first part, and collect all the upgrades in the second, before completing the levels without dying. For example, with the help of Mike in the first, or Sver-n-Scout in the second part, you can see hidden platforms and sometimes shorten the path.
