How to unlock the Apex Controller achievement in Apex Legends - Definitive Guide

To obtain this achievement you need to win a game using an Defensive legend. Defensive legends are denoted with a shield logo. Currently, the defensive legends in the game are Gibraltar, Caustic, Wattson and Rampart (the latter three need to be unlocked with either Legend tokens or Apex coins.)

My best advice for winning games would be to find a relatively quiet spot to land with your team and loot up before fighting. Besides that, teamwork is essential. Stick with your squadmates and support them when needed.

Season 9 update: you can also win a game in Arena mode for this achievement.

I just got a win with Gibraltar l, but I didn't get any achievement. Anyone else having this problem?

Same here just won trios. I was Gibraltar.

Not yet. We'll see how they do it with the class reworks and achievements.

Alright cool. Was hoping they had said something that I missed, got a friend that still needs it and I'd grind it out with him pre-update if necessary, but I'd rather just get it naturally. Thanks for the quick response though!

Won with Rampart , no achievement

Achievement has been updated to now be for a Controller character. These are Caustic, Wattson, Rampart and Catalyst.
Unfortunately all 4 are locked from the start so you'll need to grind 12k Legend tokens or buy 750 Apex coins.

Edit: Won as Caustic, no achievement however.

So what are the current characters that unlock the achievement?
I need to buy a Legend for that and dont wanna waste the points for the wrong.
Would be nice if anyone can answer that question?

For this trophy, simply win a game as a defensive character:

The following are defensive characters:
 
  • Caustic - Requires 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins ($9.99)
  • Gibraltar
