Part way through Chapter 2, you will unlock an NPC "Danjuro" who will give you the ability to unlock dyes and apply them to armor pieces. By applying dye to an armor piece you will unlock the achievement.
You can unlock additional dye's by finding them as collectibles and paying Danjuro coin to permanently unlocking them.

As of the October 7, 2021 update, this achievement will not unlock. I crafted the Green Dye and applied it to all my items. After quiting and restarting, applying and removing on all items, this seems to be glitched at the moment. The same as with the Runes.

Had to apply three different colors before it popped...for me it finally popped with blue...

Later on in the game, Danjuro becomes available opposite the Blacksmith to allow you to purchase dyes which basically allow you to alter the colour of your outfit/weapons. Do this for the first time and the trophy will be yours.
