This Achievement can be unlocked as soon as you unlock the blacksmith. Interact with the blacksmith, then navigate to the Essence Runes tab. There should be an Essence Rune called Steal available. So long as you have enough gold available, you can craft the Essence Rune and then equip it to a piece of gear, which should then unlock the Achievement.

As of the October 7, 2021 update on Xbox GamePass (Series X), this achievement will not unlock. I crafted an Essence Rune and applied it to one of my items. After quiting and restarting, applying and removing on all items, this seems to be glitched at the moment. It's the same as with the Dyes.

Confirmed that the steal rune trick works just fine...equip it...leave the vendor and run around for about 5 secs and it pops

Head over to the Blacksmith to begin unlocking this achievement. The Blacksmith is located up the steps at Kakurega Village, she is standing in an open building.
Talk to her and switch over to the "Essence Runes" tab. The attack run cost 500 coins and DID NOT trigger the achievement when I purchased it. I figured the achievement was glitched or broken, but then I bought the Steal essence rune for 100 coins and equipped that. This triggered the achievement to unlock.

I've not bought the attack rune yet, but I did equip the Steal Rune and the achievement DID NOT unlock for me. Tried equipping it to a couple pieces of gear with no luck. Seems glitchy...

Essence Runes are unlocked via the collectibles you find in the world. They have a positive and negative rating depending on what they are, for example STEAL gives a Stealth +10% rating but an Attack -10% so choose what runes you want to equip to suit your playstyle. The trophy pops upon crafting and applying your first one.
