How to unlock the It's a horror game achievement in Arcade Paradise - Definitive Guide

While the concept is simple, completing any given level can be a huge pain. I am not sure how much of the challenge is good enemy A.I, and how much of it is luck based. Regardless, it can be quite a feat.

Fortunately, I found some useful strategies that make this much easier (although, still a challenge).

The basic strategy is broken down in two parts: isolate the main enemy, and trap the sparky things (not sure what they are called, but they travel around the parameter of the stage).

1.) First, you want to isolate the main enemy. To do this, we will kind of trap him on one side or the other. My preferred method is to travel to the bottom, center of the screen and start building boxes upwards. Basically, you are making a tower to the ceiling. Instead of making huge structures that leave you open for attack, I would recommend making moderately sized structures that give you plenty of time to close out your box before the main enemy can contact it.

You will want to continue building upwards, with the goal of keeping the main enemy on one side of it (preferably, the smaller side, so you get more % when you close it off.

For now though, we don't want to completely cut out half the screen. Instead, just make sure to make a gap small enough so the enemy can't get through.

2.) Now, we will trap the travelling, sparky enemies. This may not be necessary on the first stage, since there are only two and they can be easily avoided. However, this is absolutely necessary on stage 3 and I would recommend practicing it on each stage.

Once you have the main enemy trapped on one side, make your way to opposite side. First, make a 'box' on the ground. You don't want it too big, but not too small either. Basically, you need to ensure the sparky enemy will stay on there for a couple of seconds. The goal is to wait for a sparky enemy to approach the 'box', then start making a bigger structure around it WHILE THE ENEMY IS ON THE BOX. If done properly, the new structure will enclose the sparky enemy while it is still traversing across the original box, and will get stuck. This may not work 100% of the time, but once you figure out the process, it becomes pretty easy. You have the whole half of the stage to work with and plenty of time (since the main enemy won't reach you).

3.) Once the sparkies are trapped, you can focus on the main enemy area. Close of tower completely (since you are done with the trapping) to give you about 50% completion.

Next, you will start working on cutting down the size of the remaining area. The main enemy can move surprisingly fast and will tend to ruin any structure you are making at the last possible second. Focus on making smaller structures to avoid getting hit. This is much more manageable now that the sparkies are gone.

My personal strategy was to create another 'tower' structure to split the room. This time, I would start on the left and move to the right, basically trying to corral the enemy into a quadrant.

It will take plenty of practice and some frustrating losses, but this strategy should lead you to victory.

If you are having issues with trapping the sparky enemies, here is a short game clip showing it in action.

Had a bug on the PC version where the "cabinet" will not load the second level...

After a break and retrying it, the levels finally started working again. Good luck to everyone trying to get this achievement the minigame is frustrating.

Try to avoid going back into corners you have drawn yourself (exit early end join back after the corner) otherwise your movement might get completely stuck.

Watch out at minimum on level 2 start, as if you have the unfortunate luck of being spawned on the right side, i believe the invincibility timer counts down from the moment it shows the square on the bottom left so you have less invincibility when you spawn than you would have if it placed you at the bottom.

If you box one of the border enemies in be careful if you close the line close to it as it might instantly start climbing the box you just made to take a life.

Thanks for this, it really helped.

I started by trying to trap the sparkies and although I could get it to happen I kind of scrapped that and mostly concentrated on building a tower through the middle vertically. I would also build a "step" on the left bottom consisting of a medium sized block and a larger one next to each other. I found sometimes the main enemy would get itself wedged in there. Not consistent but happened enough for me to do it just as a matter of course.

Then it was just a case of building upwards ensuring whenever a sparkie close to me I would make sure I'm creating a new block. Had a few happy accidents where I would trap a sparkie this way. Then just mop up the remaining space.

For those going for this, similar to Gravichase and Graffiti Ballz I initially had the feeling of that I'm never going to be able to do this, but it's very do-able with a bit of patience and perseverance. Good luck!

Certainly feels much harder than Qix. I'll have to give your strategies a try.

@arcadefrenzy I will have to check and make sure the recent patches didn’t affect this method. I will also try to take a game clip and upload it just to clarify the method.

Hopefully they didn’t patch this.

This game reminds me of the cabinet game, "Volfied"! Loved that one...
Or, if you'd rather...the PC version called QIX.

This is my final achievement and it's tough! Practising definitely makes it easier but a lot of is still luck, I can consistently beat level 1 and level 2 most of the time, level 3 is rough, my aim now is try and bring all 3 lives in level 3! Good luck with anyone going for this! Keep persevering

This awardment , along with the Zombat 2 one will make you throw joystick and fear of destroy tv.

Developer 1 and 2 for this game did fairly well on making Achvmnts you need to work a bit for. Even a couple easy ones. However, developer person 3, who must be a masochistic zealous speedrunning freak, decides to make everyone suffer by putting this Line Terror award in the game. It's worse than getting the mini gun in Zombat2. If you can get this achvmnt and the Zombat2 one, don't let the other ones worry you. 60 cabinet goals and 15 maxed cabinets are near victory compared to these 2 evil atrocities.

If anyone knows a work around for the achievements not unlocking can someone please help? I got the last achievement for changing the store logo but the two precious achievements for getting fired and for expanding the business I didn’t get. Super annoying

This achievement randomly popped when I was playing the multiplayer variant with someone. We only managed to beat level 1 and got the achievement when a new day started.

The chase spark is 1000x worse than any other enemy.

I unlocked this through multiplayer. Don't worry about the second player (just let him die) and you'll get it after beating 3 stages. Why multiplayer? There are only 2 sparks on all three stages. The line seems to be very aggressive though so still focus on trapping the sparks and taking it slow.

All I did was hug the wall making small borders close to the wall so when the guy In the middle came closer I could close it off without dying.

By far the most unfair arcade in the entire game

If you have random deaths, I figured out why.

If you make just a tiny line and stop moving, for even a moment, the chaser spark spawns right on top of you and kills you instantly.

The most frustrating thing about this particular game is the controls. The movement will just suddenly stop if you don't press the direction at exactly the right way (I think if you even hint at a diagonal on the stick, or roll with the DPad it also stops).

Nearly done it a few times but end up getting killed because I stop moving for whatever reason

So dumb.
