How to unlock the Pimp My Ride achievement in Arcade Paradise - Definitive Guide
This is a ridiculously grindy achievement. On top of that the controls are extremely difficult to use. But here are some tips I discovered:
- Most important: when you do a full lap of the race course, QUIT or stop moving. It does not regenerate the coins that you picked up on your first lap. Meaning, there will be less coins on the track. You are better off starting the race completely over as picking up the coins is the only thing that matters.
- The course gets significantly more difficult on the final "red background" stage. So I found I was better off picking up first few coins when I reached it, then quitting out.
- The "pickup radius" upgrade seems bugged, and doesn't do anything at all. So I would save that upgrade for last.
- The first upgrade to buy is one point in nitro. This will unlock the nitro button for you.
- After that, acceleration us the best upgrade. Max that first. Then upgrade nitro.
- Top speed is second lowest priority, as most of the time you won't be able to go gull speed anyway.
- In general you want to start your turns and begin breaking before you reach the turn. Other than that you'll want to play with the power slide / brakes combined to get make sharper corners.
But if you still play it for an hour and can't figured out how to control the car - like me - don't feel bad. The controls are just terrible.

I was getting about 350 coins per run, resetting when the tracks lapped around, in about 2m50s from Start to Start, including spending the coins for upgrades. Quitting out at the first big red corner would get me just under 300 in about 2m20s. Considering it takes 12,800 coins to upgrades everything, at a minimum 90 minutes on this one just to grind out the coins, fwiw to others who see this.

You can also have a continuous 'free boost' by holding the Left trigger to 'drift' but continuously turning left and right. It's a bit finicky, but better than burning coins on the boost.
