You win a game with a Prestige Victory by being the prestige leader once the king dies, and no AI has performed a Kingslayer, Rot, or Spirit Stone victory (see trophies for information). If someone attacks the King and he is killed along with the attacker in the same battle, then the prestige leader will claim victory.

The best way to get prestige is by completing your quests, saving terrorised settlements (denoted as the settlement burning when a Bane passes over it) and killing other heroes/Banes. You can also find some treasures that increase your prestige by a large amount, so keep an eye out for those if you get them. This is the easiest way to win a game of Armello, so will likely be how you get your first victory.
