How to unlock the Double Trouble achievement in Army of TWO The Devils Cartel - Definitive Guide

Credit to Jack Trauma xx for finding this grinding spot in his Double Trouble guide. There are a lot of questions on some of the grinding in the game, and I hope to clear some of that up and add to it.

EXTRA NOTE: The Overkill Contracts people talk about playing are part of the Overkill Edition DLC with new copies of the game. People renting the game or buying used will not have these missions to play.

You can get all 3 overkill achievements in one session with this solution.

Army of TWO: The Devil's CartelOverkillerThe Overkiller achievement in Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel worth 39 points200 targets killed in single Overkill (Triggered by you)

Army of TWO: The Devil's CartelMoocherThe Moocher achievement in Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel worth 44 points200 targets killed in single Overkill (Triggered by your partner)

Army of TWO: The Devil's CartelDouble TroubleThe Double Trouble achievement in Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel worth 135 points200 targets killed in double Overkill

1) You will want to play a solo game on easy. (co-op doubles the grind but is an option if you want)
2) Load Chapter 23. Into the Light. (We will be grinding in Chapter 24 but you need to fill your Overkill meter)
3) Play through Chapter 23 and into 24 until you breach the room with the mounted machine gun in the back of the church.
3a) Make sure the AI uses Overkill as soon as they get it available, once the AI uses it once, he will not use it again, and you can safely save up the AI's Overkill meter for the last checkpoint. If the AI does use Overkill, reload the checkpoint. (Thanks CounterInsurgnt for the info)
4) When you breach the door with the mounted machine gun, you will get a checkpoint. This is where the grind starts.
5) Press UP on the D-pad while aiming at the mounted machine gun to have the AI jump on it. This will spawn the grenadier at the back of the room.
6) Take cover to the right of the AI against the wall. and wait for 2 grenades to hit the wall knocking a hole for you to shoot through.
7) Now to hit Overkill! To activate the AI's Overkill, press Down on the D-pad.
7a) For Moocher, only activate the AI's Overkill with Down on the D-pad.
7b) For Overkiller, only activate your Overkill with LB.
7c) For Double Trouble, activate both Overkill meters pressing Down on the D-pad and LB together. (there is room for delay if you need it)
8) while behind cover, look to the left of the room. There is a hallway upstairs that enemies spawn from. Using Overkill, kill the enemies as they run out of the hallway. Do not focus on the enemies in the back of the room because they are harder to hit. As you kill enemies running out of the hall, more will spawn and they are much easier to kill than the ones in the back of the room and makes best use of your Overkill.
9) Once Overkill is gone, pause the game and reload checkpoint. Repeat steps 5-9 until all 3 achievements are unlocked.

Side note: The counter seems to be off in the stats menu and you may not get the achievement at 200 double kills. Just use the method above until the achievement pops and it should be over in no time.

This worked perfect. Took about 15 minutes or so grinding these three out. I ran into a little bug where the music and sound stopped a couple of times. Perfect place to grind these three cheevos.

Here is the thing.....you should have you ai partner use his FIRST overkill all up as soon as he gets it....he will use it before the next chapter every time at the end of the overkill boosting chapter....unless you force him to use it.

if you force him to use the first one....by the time you hit the MG he will have another and not use it before the MG overkill boost section....I tried this three times....works this way every time, please update. thanks.

NP....that was the issue some people had I think. Saw a few people say he always uses it before the checkpoint.

Just as a quick FYI --- you'll know you're in Double Overkill when the meter is red --- not yellow like in single overkill. :)

Is this known to be glitched? My counter says 206 and I know I have more than that but nothing popped.

The counter is at least glitched. Just keep going and it should unlock just fine!

There is an achievement for one at a time and at the same time. So, 200 with your overkill, 200 with the AI's, and 200 with both together.

One reason a lot of ppl might have issues with counter being inaccurate is because it tracks for you, ai, or 2nd player in stats, but not for achievement.

When I started going for achieve, friend and I both said 247, I needed about 50 he was closer to 100 before it popped

Yes we have the same problem, we both have over 230 DO kills and no achievement.

Yes. There is no difficulty specific flag.

I am pretty sure that just about all of the numbers for things are buggy. I got at least 400 overkills the other night and no cheeve so i gave up. I turned it on today for the hell of it and it said I had only 56 overkills. I then played about half a mission and got at most ten ok's and it popped. I've also killed WELL over 500 from behind cover with no cheeve and killed WELL over 100 with the placement guns and nothing. I think it just kinda gives it to you when its up to it....lol. I was just gonna kinda let this collect some dust for awhile, but that one popping at random restored a little hope.

Thought this might be worth mentioning in case anyone else is working towards the 3 Overkill achievements. I intentially started working towards Double Trouble first and along the way whilst Double Overkill was active I also unlocked Overkiller and Moocher, much to my surprise.

Same here, it was weird. I am pretty sure i was nowhere near to 200 for single overkills (counter shows 56) and way above 200 for doubles (counter shows 256). Yet, the two songle ones unlocked at the same time, right after a double overkill phase... weird.

@Jissi - the exact same thing happened to me. Unlocked both singles (following a DO) and their counters are around 120 each.

My DO counter is at 250 at the moment, so fingers crossed it'll happen sometime soon.

Both single ones popped one mission apart for me..... very early. This stupid crap sits at 309 with no achievement. Last one I need in the game. EA is $h!t..... especially with this series.

I just got it to unlock. 326 I think was the lucky number My stats say 328, but I got 2 or 3 kills after the unlock.

Nice to see someone with 326 because I'm on 317 and still waiting. Most seemed to be getting it around 250, so there's still hope, and it's my last achievement as well.

You can trigger the second Overkill in a way where you start with your own, have the double for a period in the middle and end on your partners. This way you can get a bit of progress towards all three, dropping whichever method you need to as you unlock the achievementd

I just did this directly at the beginning of chapter 24 before you even take out the MMG. There's 8-ish guys before the cutscene and 12-ish after, so I just split up the overkills I needed (e.g. my overkill before the cutscene and second controller's overkill after.) Be aware the cutscene shuts down overkill though, so when you start combining them for double overkill you can only kill one group with it.

Okay I tried the guide made by Fuzzmeister J and while he has a fantastic guide and idea it sadly didn't work for me. Everytime I tried to approach the machine gun post my AI partner would activate his overkill and ruin my chance at even trying his guide so yeah that sucked for me.

Anyway my method involved alot of his but I got all of my kills for overkill before I reached the machine gun post. I simply gunned down the same 10 guys and reloaded the checkpoint until I heard that achievement pop!

I made a video aswell to show that reloading checkpoints works fine and you can do this alone with the AI as your partner which is much faster if you ask me.

Video below showing the method I repeated about 20 or so times. Good luck guys and enjoy the video.

Thank you for this solution! Using your guide, I kept on reloading the checkpoint and killing those same ten guys (in the second half of that part) over and over again until the achievement unlocked. That was the last achievement I needed for this game, but I got it now and I'm done with it. Thanks again!

I tried Fuzzmeister J's solution, but I think the method I found was quicker, easier to set up, and more reliable. You can get about 6 kills every thirty seconds this way, so even if you had no overkills, you could get each achievement in about 16 minutes. It uses a similar setup to Fuzzmeister J.

1. Start a solo game on easy on chapter 23.
2. Play through chapter 23, but be sure neither you or partner uses overkill. If partner uses it, reload checkpoint.
3. At the start of chapter 24, you will go up two sets of stairs and will have to hold X to breach a door. Move forward and you will get a checkpoint.
4. There is a door ahead and (at least) 6 enemies will come out of the door.
5. Activate the appropriate overkill mode:
Moocher: press down on dpad only
Overkiller: press LB only
Double Trouble: press both LB and down on dpad
6. Kill the enemies.
7. Reload checkpoint and repeat steps 4-6.

I think this method is better because you quickly and reliably get six kills per thirty seconds. Also you don't have to repeatedly do the mounted machine gun part. You probably will get fewer kills per attempt, but this method probably takes 80% less time per attempt, so you should get far more kills per minute average.

i found it easier to do my grinding for these kills by doing the chapter number 33 called 'game face' on 'Narco Hell'

if you play a chapter or 2 just before it to build up overkill for yourself and you AI partner then keep it until the chapter in question, you get your masks back then you have the checkpoint then leave the room and in the next room there are a number of enemy soldiers to kill using your pistol, once they are dead then reload and it starts right outside the room of the enemies you just killed.

there maybe other ways than any of these guides so far but i just found this more easier for me.

once all the overkill or both overkills have run out just reload the checkpoint.

I just realized you can load chapter 23 and build up your Overkill bar while proceeding, when you kick in the door where you find a soldier with a shield, your bar should be filled up already by now. I entered the following room and ran towards the end of it, a lot of enemies spawned from the front, the left and the right door and I activated the double Overkill. I got 18 kills for one try so I'm gonna stick with this method. I'm playing solo and on easy mode.
