Traits are unlocked on the end game screen after completing a successful Quick Game scenario, wherein the condition to unlock the trait is met.
The trait Impious is unlocked by making an offering at a Sacred Site. Sacred Sites appear as mystical buildings on a map, and appear more often with Sacred halts. Select a Sacred Halt and choose to Explore, and use the right-most option to make an offering to the Sacred Site. Offerings require a large amount of resources, but grant a random positive action (such as removing a negative trait from the Pupil).
Meticulous unlocks alongside this achievement upon completion of the run.
