How to unlock the Know thy Enemy achievement in Ascend Hand of Kul - Definitive Guide
After you complete Crimhorn Summit during the tutorial, the shrines and alters you claim may be attacked by other PC's ascended champions while you play. You will get a 5 minute warning to fend them off before they take your shrine or alter, though you can wait until after they take it to fight them. Just defeat 3 of them to get the achievement.

This didn't pop for me until about the 12th kill. From problems I'm having with the kill count and curse/bless achievements I assume my progress didn't carry over between sessions.

After you have claimed some altars and shrines for your god after the tutorial, you may be invaded by another Xbox Live player's AI-controlled ascended champion. You are given 5 minutes to defeat the invader before they take over the shrine or altar. They will still be in the location even if they have taken over the area.
A champion that is several levels ahead of you may prove to be a difficult opponent. It doesn't hurt in making an attempt to defeat them, as your armor and gear will not be damaged by ascended champions (If the location is an altar, there will be enemy humans in the area and they CAN damage your gear), and there is no penalty for dying.

This achievement also seems to be a bit buggy so it may not pop with shrines or Alters alone.

I believe that this must be done in one session (perhaps this is a Beta bug). The best method I have found is wait until three of your shrines are captured, then go defeat the champions back to back. When I did this, the achievement popped for me.
