How to unlock the Innings Defeat achievement in Ashes Cricket 2009 - Definitive Guide
Bat first, put up a decent score, bowl the opposition out for a low score. Then force the follow-on and bowl them out for a low score again.
You won't have to bat a second over and therefore win by an innings.
Abuse the save feature if you need to, set the game to easy, pick a good team and play against someone weak.
Good luck.

For this trophy you need to win by an innings, which means enforcing something called a follow-on.
In order to enforce this, you need to set a sizable total batting first, and ensure that you bowl the other team out for at least 200 less than your first innings total. You will then be given the option to enforce the follow-on and make them bat again (the game will also give you a helpful indication of how many runs the other team needs to avoid the follow on too for a point of reference). Bowl the team out again before they reach your first innings total on aggregate (e.g. you make 500 and they make 100 and 399 in their two attempts at bat), and you will win by an innings.
This can be done during the Ashes and will probably occur naturally on Easy difficulty (which you should be playing on if you're looking to get this game over with as quickly as possible), but be warned. On the 360 version I enforced the follow-on in one of the matches, ended up winning the series 5-0 and didn't get the achievement for winning the Ashes at the end, and I soon found after trawling through gamefaqs that this can happen if you enforce the follow-on, so I had to repeat the entire series again without enforcing it.
I'm not 100% sure that it voids Ashes Champion on the PS3 version (or even 100% of the time on 360 for that matter), but just to be safe I wouldn't enforce it during that series; rather, play a separate Test match and do it there.

This is what i did, I put England into bat (I was playing as Australia), got them out for paltry score of 76. when I came into bat, i smashed 619 for the loss of 2 wickets then I declared, then I bowled England out for 55. I won by a innings and 488 runs.
I did this by winning the toss & making the other team bowl first. I got them all out for a low score. (Something like 84/10).
Then I batted & set a score of around 250/10.
They had to bowl again having to reach a target of 166. I then bowled them all out before they reached that target.
Match won by an innings & some runs.
So basically you need to make them bowl twice without overtaking your score.
This can also be done with you batting first. Setting a high score. Bowling them out for a low score, enforcing the follow on & making them bat again. Before bowling them out for the 2nd time before they reach your score.

You need to win by an innings, this basically means you must bat first. Set a very high total (400/450), just slog it really, though don't slog it too much if you are losing wickets. If you are, resort to ground shots, finding gaps in the field. Declare at about 450, and bowl the opponent (select a weak team again) out for a small score, say 30. The game will ask you if you want to enforce the follow-on, this means making the opponent bat again, select yes. Just bowl them out again, making sure they don't surpass your total of 450. If their added total from both innings is less than 449, the match will end, you winning by an innings, and this trophy will unlock.
Bat first and post a huge score. Bowl your opponents out for a low score. Enforce the follow on (if available, if not then it will not work) and bowl them out again, and the achievement is yours.
