How to unlock the The Blazing Blade achievement in Ashes Cricket 2009 - Definitive Guide

This took me a ages to get, until I remembered that you can save after EVERY ball. So basically, get a six, save it, if you don't get a six next ball, quit out and reload.

Did it with Broad bowling to Ponting on easy.

I got this achievement playing as a test match with England versus Kenya. Using the save method, after about 10 overs I got Strauss and Cook up to fearless, and by this stage the bowlers were timid.

Ideally what you want is one of their medium paced bowlers to come on, where he drops the ball short. I did not try this acheivement until the medium pacer did this with his first ball (they seem to do it evry 2-3 overs when timid).

The shot I found best in this scenario was a paddle shot (holding the controller at 2 'o' clock), so its not a hook shot, but the opposite. If you pull the left trigger so its a back foot shot, and push B just before the ball lands on the pitch, you should paddle it to the right of the slips for 6. This seemed a lot easier than hooking it (9 'o' clock, where 1 in 4 would go for 6). Then just save, and rinse and repeat. Thankfully, the bowler kept just dropping it short for the over, which he will hopefully do.

I found it difficult to understand what is a six in cricket as i do not even know the rules of the game. So if there are others like me who do not know anything about cricket here is what you have to do. A six is scored when you hit the ball hard enough to send it outside the yellow line at once. This can be done by pressing B button at the right time. When the bouncer send the ball very close to you press LB + B. Time your hit and you will succed. After every six scored save the game so you can easily do 6 sixs in a row by loading/saving whenever is needed.

Just wait for a spinner to come on and advance down the ground and press B and if you time it good or perfect it should go for six easily.
Or you could do what i did, and just try and hit everyball out the park.

Similar to 'Power Hitting', this time you need to hit 6 sixes in a row, again you don't need to do this in one over, just in 6 consecutive deliveries. Put the difficulty to easy and press to slog. It may help to advance ('dance') down the wicket using and . Again use the save function if you are struggling, after every six deliveries save then reload if you don't get a six next ball.

This is quite a difficult achievement, to make this a little easier hooking the ball on the back of your foot by pressing . If the ball is pitched at your feet hold and hit down at the ground. This doesn't need to be in one over.

Note: You can save the game at any time and reload to earn your achievement.
