How to unlock the The Hat Trick achievement in Ashes Cricket 2009 - Definitive Guide
I played a test match with England versus Kenya (they seem to be the worst at 1 star), batted first to get the 100, 200, 300, 600 achievements before declaring.
When bowling, I used Jimmy Anderson, attacking field 8, and the inswing ball (B).
Now comes the complete luck bit. Bowling at the stumps is pointless if you ask me, as they always block it, so don't if you ask me.
From where the cursor starts, I would move it right and down a bit, to try and get the batsmen to edge. I would try and bowl at top speed. Sometimes they edge it (get good at practising catching first in the fielding tutorial!), sometimes they whack it - god knows what changes, pot luck if you ask me.
So what you need to do is get someone out in the first 2 balls of the over, save, bowl the next delivery....quit, load, bowl the same delivery.....quit, load, same delivery -oo he's edged it and out! - save, bowl the next delivery....so and and so on.
As a guide, to get all the above acheivements took me about one hour - with a lot of loading. You will need some patience, but through the loading system, you can get it in the end!
If you don't know already you can save at anytime in a match. This involves taking 3 wickets from 3 balls in a row.
So take a wicket - save.
If you fail to take the next wicket on the next ball just reload the save & try again.
Repeat until you have all 3.
This can be quite tricky for most people, but it is quite simple if you use the following tips:
Create a player and set him as a leg spinner, max out most of his stats except the spin/cut, put this at about 95. Put him in the England or Australia line-up. Play as England or Australia vs. Zimbabwe and choose 20 Overs (the batsmen will take more risks and they will be easier to get out). Zimbabwe's batters are mostly right handed, so select the 'Wrong-Un' delivery type by pressing . Now pitch it the same length as the batter's leg and just left the off stump, then bowl a perfect delivery. When I did this, the batsmen kept missing the ball and I bowled them comprehensively. Again use the save function, every time you get a wicket save, then reload if you don't get a wicket the following ball. You can also just keep switching and swapping delivery types to see which one works best for you, in my opinion the 'Flipper () and 'Wrong-Un' () work the best.
