There's lots of medals to earn in a race, I got this on my first race. You can see all the medals you can get by clicking where it says 'You' in the top-left at the main menu, then click medals. If, on the first race you hit the ramps and do spins, drift a lot, and come in first place you will probably get it.

Medals are awarded for doing specific things such as breaking the environment, perfect runs, knockdowns, perfect nitro usage as well as other things too. It is pretty easy to obtain around 20 per race so this should come very quickly.
