How to unlock the Gifted Escapist achievement in Assassin's Creed Mirage - Definitive Guide

If you're looking to get this done and out of the way all in one go, I've found the Excavation Site to be the best spot since there are 3 scaffolds bundled together that you can grind for the achievement.

During the Find the Missing Brother case under the Ahmad ibn Musa investigation you visit the Excavation Site in the SW portion of the Baghdad wilderness, in the centre of the excavation site you'll find 3 scaffolds.

I suggest that you complete the case/mission first so that you can focus on the achievement. Afterwards simply destroy the scaffolding and then leave the restricted area. Now, there are two ways to respawn the scaffolding:

#1 - Call your camel/horse and ride to the nearby viewpoint (located north-east of the excavation site) to force the scaffolding to respawn and then rinse and repeat this until you've collapsed 20 scaffolds.

#2 - Fast travel to the above mentioned viewpoint to respawn the scaffolding and then once again rinse and repeat this method until the achievement unlocks. (Remember you can only fast travel outside of conflict so the first method will likely be the go-to. However, it is possible to collapse the scaffolding and leave without entering conflict, in which case fast traveling would be quicker)

Here is a game clip I recorded to show the spot and method:

Big thanks to Dr Scruffleton, iSanket, Bob Wings and Temppuli for their comments and information in helping to fine tune this solution.

Bug warning:
Unfortunately as of 11/10/2023 it seems this achievement can be buggy. Your achievement tracker might not track correctly and you may need to collapse more scaffolding than the required amount in order to unlock this achievement, or in the worst case scenario your tracker may stop working all together in which case the achievement will not unlock. You might be able to fix the tracker by closing and relaunching the game, hard resetting your console, deleting and reinstalling the game, and lastly deleting your save file and starting a new game (I suggest to try this only after you've unlocked every other achievement first). If you've tried all of the fixes above and it still hasn't unlocked you may need to wait for Ubisoft to release a fix/update.

perfect spot! Also very easy to just get on the camel and ride away for a few seconds, turn around and they’ll be there again

Thanks for the info @Dr Scruffleton, since loading screens are practically non-existent nowadays I've gotten rather lazy and often tend to save and reload in these sort of grinding situations laugh I've added it to the guide and credited you toast

I'm stuck at 30%, so maybe they're not scaffolds? I dunno...

Achievement tracking seems to be a common issue with this game, personally I had no issues using this spot to grind out the achievement so those scaffolds definitely count towards it.

Have you tried closing and relaunching the game and/or hard resetting your console? That seems to work for some people for the other cumulative achievements that don't seem to track correctly. I wish I could give you a definitive answer but I really don't know.

The only other thing I can suggest is if you're using the save/load method, try leaving and coming back to the area to force the scaffolds to respawn and do it that way instead (or vice versa) and see if that works for you.

I tried closing/opening, hard reset, power cycle/uninstall/reinstall. Now I'm trying restarting the game with a fresh save.

Edit: Not even starting over got this God awful broken ass achievement to track. I've come to the conclusion that it can't be unlocked legit. I'm done until they patch it.

Oh no you're good, no offence taken. It happens to all of us and I'd be just as annoyed myself, sadly achievements have been in a sorry state for far too long and it's gotten rather old at this point.

Ok, so Ubisoft had me make a video of what I was doing. So I went back to the excavation site because it has the three scaffolds and started the video. I pulled the three down, ran away (like always), and ran back. Nothing, so I ran away and ran back. Then I pulled the three down, ran away, and ended the video because I wanted it shown twice.

On a whim, I checked the achievement. 55%!! Infinitely better than 30! So I repeated the pattern. Nothing this time, but I had FINALLY gotten that pesky needle to move! So I decided to keep trying. By the second one... ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!!!! clap toast

Just keep using Excavation Site location until this achievement pops up.
Dont need any save or restart.
Just get out of conflict if any then fast travel to 'H' point and go to same site.
It worked for me.

Worked liked a charm! I just ran my camel back to the water by the fast travel point and they all respawned. Never had to fast travel or reload saves.

What steps have you taken to fix it? I'm leaving my previous posts as they are in case they help others.

NOTE: I was able to get the achievement on the fresh playthrough, but I never quick/manually saved it, so that playthrough is gone since I didn't want it. When I got the achievement, I loaded up my last quick save from my main playthrough so I didn't lose any progress.

Mine also bugged. On Xbox the status stuck at 30%, but on Xbox app on mobile, the progress is 85%. Perhaps this mismatch progression causing the bug.

Replaying from start is not fix it either.

Thanks for this. Great spot.

I dont suggest any "load" here, load game bugged the hell out of blade in the crowd achievement for me. So go to this place, collapse all 3, run 100metres away and go back they have spawned. So collapse them again till you get the achi.

@Temppuli Hey, no problem, I'm glad it helped.

It's rather strange, I think it's an issue with the achievements more so than the save/load method because I had no issues unlocking this with the save/load method. However, when I went for the 'Blade in the Crowd' achievement I didn't use the save/load method but I had issues with the tracker not tracking correctly. Some kills counted and some didn't so I'm really not so sure what the problem is exactly.

Having said all that, I have revised the solution and removed the save/load method just to be sure. It seems unreliable at best. Thanks for the heads ups.

Subnat3d method is great, just completed testing without fast travel or save/load. Most consistent method for the counter seems to be, follow the video and hit the 3 scaffolds. Run out the camp and jump on your mount, head to the fast travel point nearby and circle back on yourself looping round it. The 3 sacffolds should have respawned. Rinse and repeat.

I thought it was bugged for me as well. It was stuck on 20% and that was it. I wasn't complete Ali baba quest so I head for it. After I have done it. Went to check it again the scaffoldings at Upper Harbor. And they start counting again. After I pull all 3 of them reload and tried again. Didn't work. So pull them all again and run far away for them to respawn. Fast travel to to viewpoint and went again. They were counting again. So I presume there is a some specific requirement which have to be fulfilled so the scaffolding to count. Good luck to all achievement humtets

Reloading doesn't work for this achievement for some reason. Just run away and come back

The achievement progress doesn't seem to matter in this one. I had it stuck at 20% and nothing seemed to get it up. Then I went to check the Xbox app and it was at 95%. The next scaffold unlocked it and in the end I think I only did it the given 20 times

Dang, that sucks, I'm sorry I couldn't be of help. Yeah it seems like you're one of the unlucky few unfortunately, you might need to wait on Ubi to release a patch. I'll update the solution so people are aware this can bug out.

Just saw MasChoose post above about showing different % in the phone app vs the console and mine is also 30% console 85% on the app.

Deleted my console save while the game was running, hard reset and boom achievement unlocked when I did another run at the excavation site which would have been the missing 15%. So I guess it's just the console tracker not working correctly ?

@PrimeBigTime Yeah it's unfortunate but there's really not a whole lot that can be done about it. It's been an issue on this site for a long time. I won't lie it does irk me but it is what it is. The way I see it, this guide has managed to help many people so that's all that matters. I'd appreciate a comment as to why somebody may feel the need to downvote because it's impossible to know what I could improve otherwise but that's completely up to them whether they choose to.

I do appreciate your comment though, it's good to know I'm not the only one laugh

edit- typos.

The scaffolding seems to be few and far between and you can't find one > save > collapse it > then reload. That doesn't seem to count.

So the best way to do it is, find one > collapse it > then run a few blocks away and come back and it should have respawned. Collapse it again and this seems to count.

Rinse and repeat.

If it hasn't respawned you just haven't ran far enough away.

Here is a location of some scaffolding.

It's worth point out that you don't need to run away.

Quick Saving and Quick Loading AFTER you destroy the scaffolding instantly respawns them. So it's worth just farming the three in the Harbour or Excavation site, save, load, and keep doing it.

The quickest and easiest way I've found is the following:
- Wilderness West Viewpoint, travel South-South-West to the Excavation Site (you visit here during a mission)
There are 3 scaffolds you can destroy in quick succession, run out the way you came in and soon as you leave the restricted zone fast travel back to the viewpoint.
RINSE AND REPEAT.

In Harbiyah, towards the very north and at a location you visit as part of a main mission very early in the game is a place called Upper Harbor. Here I was able to reliably farm 3 collapsible scaffolds. I had to run away pretty far to get them to respawn but it's not an unreasonable distance. There's two within the harbor itself and one just outside on the eastern side.

I found this to work great especially after finding a 4 scaffold near the trader southeast of the Upper Harbor, the distance to this scaffolding by trade is far enough to respawn the 3 J Roll mentions, so 5 trips and you're done

I was searching google and was able to find another alternative that worked out well for me that I haven'tseen posted. There are a few scaffolds (3-4) walking around the Postal Bureau on the way to the Damascus Gate. Eagle Vision helps to find these. In another area near the Great Garrison I was able to pass time on a bench and they would respawn, but it only worked twice, which is when I went to the Postal Bureau and found the rest I needed.

I’ll be honest, I got to the end of the game and I’d not collapsed one scaffolding structure. I mean, I saw them, I just didn’t see a use for them. Now, you’re going to be in one of two camps if you’re reading this:

  • Camp 1: You’re just starting out and seeing what the list is like. If that’s you, when you see a scaffolding structure while playing the game, pull it down - just watch out for civilian casualties, as the game can desync you if you kill too many. This means that you’ll likely get this as you go
  • Camp 2: You’ve finished the game and are now looking for a shortcut to get 20 as quick as possible, as you too didn’t take any down (like us) during the campaign
The strategy for the latter, rather than run the streets looking for them is:

  • Fast-travel to the Viewpoint to the west of the Prince’s Palace in north-east Harbiyah, and there’s one just to the south of the viewpoint. Pull it down
  • Fast-travel to the Viewpoint in the north-northwest in Round City, and there’s one to the west of the Viewpoint. Pull it down
  • Rinse and repeat, because they respawn when you use fast-travel
Do that 10 times, take down 20, and this achievement will be all yours.

EXTREMELY easy once you know the locations. In the video, i showcase 3 scaffoldings right next to each other that you can take down, fast travel & come back. it should respawn ! there are other areas included as well.
(NO, you don’t need to crush an enemy for the trophy to count)

You can farm scaffolds in the arch opposite the main entrance to the great fortress. There is a tower nearby. Break the scaffold, teleport to another area and fly back, the scaffold will appear

Next to the dervish's shop there are three of them and a viewpoint nearby, break them and you'll be transported to them right away. Everything is marked with numbers.

It will be easier and faster to find any one platform (for example, any of the previous comments), collapse it and save right there. Then load the save, collapse it again, save and load the save... and so on in a circle. I saved each time because I am not sure how the counter works.
It may not be necessary to save every time.

I will add to the hint " GRAFGRID ".
There is another platform nearby.

P.S. but when moving to the tower again, my platform was in place, and platform 1 from the GRAFGRID hint was missing, maybe you'll be lucky and all 4 platforms will be in place every time when moving to the tower again.

Can be combined with Face on the Poster and Shadow and Flame.
Next to the merchant's shop, not far from the Prince's Palace, there are two platforms and a viewpoint nearby. Break both and immediately move to any viewpoint and return back. While you break the platforms, hit civilians and kill two guards, your wanted level rises and a shakiri warrior comes. Kill him with a platform, the wanted level is reset, fill it again and tear off two posters, move to any viewpoint, back to the platforms, tear off the poster and the achievement in your pocket. For three achievements, a maximum of 10 minutes.
Video guide (ru).

no need to port anywhere, run up - drop - run along the road from the prince's palace to the next square, run up and return, in this game if you run back 200m objects and enemies are rendered

It's even easier to run from the place in the picture above to the south to the Esh-Shakiray gate, there will be a group of mercenaries, marked with a sword, run to them and again to the point in the picture above. One circle is about 40 seconds.
