How to unlock the Old Habits achievement in Assassin's Creed Origins - Definitive Guide

This trophy is awarded for completing all locations in the game, including:
Viewpoints (not sure whether these are required for the trophy, but they reveal all locations in the vicinity so they make it a lot easier)
Enemy camps / hideouts / ships (red icon)
Treasure locations
Stone circles (x12)
Tombs and ancient mechanisms
Hermit locations (x5)
War elephants (x4)

Following the 1.10 update, locations you have completed will have a small gold tick next to the location icon on the map. Previously there was a glitch whereby if you completed any locations while playing as Aya during the Blade of the Goddess main story quest, the trophy would glitch. This has apparently been fixed by the 1.10 update but maybe best to play it safe and only complete locations as Bayek anyway.

The trophy cannot be obtained until you complete the main storyline as a final location is revealed upon completion. This is easily the most time consuming trophy in the game, but isn't particularly difficult other than the War Elephant battles - as long as you are at level 40 these are not too tough but may take you a few attempts.

Locations not revealed by viewpoints
Tombs and stone circles (glowing yellow question mark) are not revealed by viewpoints. They will appear on the in-game compass when you are within ~450m.

This includes Eesfet Oon-m'Aa Poo, an ancient mechanism in the Sphinx which requires you to have completed all 12 stone circles and the associated side quest, and requires 50 silica to activate.

There are several locations which may not appear on the map even if you've synced a nearby viewpoint. These include:
Hotep Cavern (SW Qattara Depression)
Abandoned Fishing Village (Faiyum lake edge, SW of Beached Trireme Camp and NE of Taweret Stone Circle)
Dionysias Wharf (Faiyum, near Sea of Sobek Anchorage)

Map areas without viewpoints
There are no viewpoints in Great Sand Sea (no locations), White Desert (no locations), Black Desert (1 hermit location [also grants "I Can See My House From Here" trophy], 1 tomb and 1 ancient mechanism in the SE) and Desheret Desert (1 tomb, 1 ancient mechanism in the S).

Other tips...
1. Be thorough collecting silica in the tombs as you will need it to complete the Ancient Mechanisms (5 per mechanism, 50 for the one in the Sphinx)
2. Some of the question marks can be hard to see on the map in mountainous areas, particularly in the W and NW areas of the map
3. Try to fully clear an area before moving on so you know you haven't missed anything
4. The triremes move around the ocean / lakes so easiest to check these off when you are near them to save you having to chase them later
5. Use Senu to scout locations, particularly the later camps with multiple captains / commanders and treasure locations, to make sure you are clear on all objectives
6. You need to find all the papyri, since these are 'treasure' locations. However, you do not need to solve the associated papyrus puzzles.

This is the longest achievement in the game and you will likely unlock every achievement before this one. Locations are shown on the map by a white question mark.

There are quite a few different types of locations found around Egypt:

  • Treasure - by far the most common, simply open up 1-3 chests to complete. These can also be underwater.
  • Small Military/Medium Military/Fort - kill 1-2 captains/commander and open 1-4 chests. These can also be on ships.
  • Animal Lairs - kill the leader of the group
  • Hermit Location - find a resting spot
  • Align the Stars - rotate the constellation pattern and match it to the stars
  • War Elephant - kill the War Elephant boss. Don't bother doing these until you are level 40.
  • Tombs - more elaborate maze like structures where you must find the ancient tablet or activate the mechanism with Silica at the end.

Here's some general rules of thumb when going through these locations:

  • Synchronize every viewpoint before you really set aside the time to do this achievement, it will save you a lot of time
  • Use Senu whenever you can. He will mark the locations of the captains/commanders and chests that you must open.
  • Some of the locations are hidden behind side quest markers (took me a long time to find my last location, which was the "Mountain of the Dead Tomb" in the Siwa territory.
  • If you are still having trouble seeing the locations on the map, turn your brightness down in the options menu and then zoom out until the locations are just barely visible. This will make the question mark pop stand out a little more.
  • If you are still unsure, fast travel to each reason and use Senu to fly around and look for the question mark there.

Now that the general tips are out of the way, here's some specific locations that you might have trouble finding or clearing:

  • Hotep Cavern
    • This location is found right next to the border of the Qattara Depression. For unknown reasons, it is NOT shown on the map with the white question mark.
  • Bureau of the Hidden Ones
    • This location is only accessible once you have completed all the main missions.
  • Eesfet Oon-m'Aa Poo
    • This is located under the Sphinx. To open it, you need to completely align the stars (this will net you the "Stargazer" achievement). This will unlock the room to the mechanism, and to actually unlock the mechanism you need 50 silica. Silica is found exclusively in tombs. Hold to use eagle vision to see where these bright gold crystals are located. Complete this location for the Isu Armor Legendary Outfit.

Once you have completed all of the locations on the map, the achievement will unlock.

UPD. The trophy is not glitchy. I will help people like me find the last point!
Firstly, here is a map with objects, you can look at it, almost all zones are there
Secondly, there is one!!! a point that does not appear on the map even when you sync with 58 viewpoints. It is located halfway between Siwa and Qatar Depression, called Khotop Cave... (located below the main road, a question mark will appear on the minimap when approaching)
After that I received a trophy.
UPD 2: After numerous messages in PM and PSN, I am adding. To get the trophy you need to not only open all the questions, but also complete them. So that all the icons on the map turn gray.
ps side quests, you don’t need to go through the arenas and racetrack for the trophy.

I advise you to synchronize all fast travel points. Well, be sure to complete all the tasks of the zones (areas) that appear.

I scoured the map for half an hour until I remembered that after the patch you can turn off the icons for completed zones (cross up), almost immediately I found a post that I ran past a couple of times, but apparently didn’t clear, and there was also a statue of Ptolemy nearby.

1. They say that research must be strictly for the GG, if they give Aya control, you should refrain from research.
2. The trophy dropped immediately after completing the storyline. For he went into research after the liquidation of "Crocodile". Those. If you haven’t completed the story, you’ve explored everything and don’t understand why the trophy didn’t drop, try finishing the story.

After the latest update, the icons of traveled and explored places on the map are no longer pale, but gold with check marks.

The tips above are correct - if the trophy does not drop, and all zones are cleared, then you need to go through the story. The fact is that the last location in the last mission is also considered a zone. So if you, like me, first cleared the entire map and then moved on to the story, then don’t worry!

To pass the Sphinx zone you need 50 golden figs; they are usually found in treasuries. Collect them, they are very important.

One question was hidden under the task icon. So the main tip is to be attentive. Scale the map to the maximum and move forward.

There are icons that do not appear on the map. You need to either find them yourself, or buy a set in the store for Helix currency!

the trophy is absolutely not glitchy
do everything systematically - area by area
if you haven’t received it by the end of the story, you will receive it after completing the story

With the release of the new patch 1.05, the trophy was fixed. After the update, I got a zone that I supposedly didn’t clear (although I definitely ran past it 10 times)

There is nothing buggy in this trophy, the main thing is don’t clear it for Aya, don’t do anything at all for Aya except for the “Blade of the Goddess” story quest. Be sure to collect Quartz in the tombs - these are golden fragments in the tombs

The trophy will not be given until you complete the story, even if you have gone through all the zones up and down. Well, if after the story the achievement did not fall out, then at the end of the game, you will still be able to continue to complete additional tasks. mission and at the same time close the remaining zones.

maybe after the update, I got it after the last main mission, before that I opened everything, did all the additional missions, etc., three rang at once: this one + for the last one. mission + platinum!

After completing the last cutscene, three trophies dropped at once: this one, “this is the end” and the platinum itself. Although, before completing the last task, I closed the last question mark under the sphinx, receiving armor. Therefore, if it doesn’t fall out right away, it will all fall out together at the end.

The trophy is not glitchy. You need to find and complete all points on the map, including war elephants. The author of this text, to begin with, completed all the points on the map except for the elephants, the trophy did not fall out. However, after defeating all the elephants, the trophy was immediately received. Perhaps this information will be useful to someone.
PS Papyri must be found to get the trophy, but the riddles themselves are completed solely at your request.
PSS If a “bug” occurs with camps that need to be cleared, try to cause “desynchronization” in the same place, the author himself once encountered this “bug” and this method worked.

There is more quartz than needed, it is not necessary to collect all of it; after activating all the ancient mechanisms and obtaining the forerunner armor, there are still 13 pieces left.

I’ll add about silicon (genic objects) in order to launch all the ancient mechanisms back to back. Therefore, when exploring the tombs, do not miss a single one, otherwise you will then run around looking again

The trophy is not glitchy. I just recently got it as the last one before platinum. In general, I closed most of the questions during the story. These are the ones that were on the way to the task, and also some that were closed for leveling up. The rest of the questions were answered after completing the story. Naturally, the trophy did not drop immediately. I also had to look for questions on the map. I simply enlarged the map to the maximum and looked carefully. Found a couple more. The trophy didn't drop again. It turned out that he did not clear one camp with two spears, he simply did not notice. Camps, if you don’t clear them, don’t appear back on the map as a question, just like other activities. So you may have to look not for the question, but for some other unclosed activity hidden under the question (animal den, camp, tomb, etc.) if you just skimmed past the question. In short, the trophy is purely based on careful study of the map. Also a tip: carefully collect quartz in tombs! In the end it may not be enough for the Sphinx, I had enough at point-blank range (I need 50 units), and it will also be spent on other tombs to start the mechanisms! I only found out about this towards the end of the game! Otherwise, you will have to run through the tombs again, he is nowhere else! I confirm that add. You do not need to complete any tasks for this trophy. Also collect additional Treasures in animal dens are also optional. The main thing is that the question mark turns into a completed task icon.

I'm tired of these "zones". Cleared all areas. I removed the checkbox to show all zones, the map is empty. I started going through additional missions (! in a diamond), as it turned out there was no need to complete them. I started looking at the map from the first tip on the zones with all the icons turned on, and in the Faiyum and fayuim oasis region the sign suddenly appears? in the area I had previously cleared. This mark is not on that zone map. Another kamitan was not killed there and the chest was not collected. I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, but after clearing the trophy dropped out immediately. I am attaching a photo from the place. I hope it will be useful to someone.

This is a ship at the pier, not a glitch.
I also had the last one here on the pier, and I cleared this ship while it was somewhere in the lake...
I looked at the zone in exactly the same way from the tablet and compared it with the game, I can’t say that it ever opened there after the special stages, I just swam to this place without any signs, although everything on the lake, like everywhere else, was done, but I couldn’t It didn’t even touch the place and there was no sign.
