How to unlock the Most Unsporting achievement in Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Definitive Guide

Thanks to dizwod for your suggested solution - I had difficulties implementing it though and so I'd like to offer my own solution for this trophy.

Use Evie, not Jacob if you're doing this after you've skilled up both characters, as Jacob's Gunslinger II skill will mean he'll take out an enemy with one shot. With Evie I found you can get three or four of these shoot before you get shot hits in before your enemy is too weak to draw their weapon again. Since you don't have to kill the enemy for it to count, this way you need to confront less enemies to get your 50.

As Evie, with your gun active (i.e. not knives or bombs), fast travel to the viewpoint at Buckingham Palace. Jump down just to the first surface you can jump to (i.e. not to the ground). Scan the area and you'll see to your right (south east) a little lower than you is a guard - he's one of the rifle carrying guards patrolling the top of the palace. Head down to him. The guard won't attack unless you do something, so kidnap him and then release him. He'll stagger a bit and then pull his gun on you. Retreat and then head back towards him until you're close enough that you pull whatever knife weapon you have equipped. Wait for the triangle 'counter shot' option to appear in front of you and then press triangle. Evie will shoot first and you'll see your bullet total doesn't decrease. Wait at this same distance and the guard will draw again - wait for the counter shot option again and then press triangle for another shoot first. Repeat this with this same guard until he is close to death when he won't try to shoot you anymore. I think most times I got four shots in.

Leave this guard and head forward and then to the left on this same level to the next rifle guard and repeat this process. There may be a third guard available if you keep heading around the square.

Once you've done all the available rifle patrol guards, fast travel to the viewpoint at Victoria Station and then fast travel back to the viewpoint at Buckingham Palace, where all the guards should be reset back to full health and starting position. Repeat these steps until you get the trophy.

I recommend this approach, using these rifle guards, because they don't melee you unless you get right on top of them or too close when they're almost dead. On the ground, the guards would just chase me and try to melee me and it was difficult to get them at just the right distance for the right kind of shoot back opportunity to present itself.

Also I noticed that not all of these counted as proper counter shots (in perks) but they obviously counted for the trophy. When my trophy popped, I had 12 of 25 counter shots registered - it seemed like only every three or four attempts did it count as a counter shot for perks.

The perk may have to do with 'killing somebody with a counter shot' ???? That would make sense with your figures right.

Thanks AItivo - you're right, the perk probably is about killing with the counter shot - makes perfect sense!

Best way I found of getting this trophy as I kept dodging and quick shooting instead of countering the shot:

Equip a cane (any cane) grab a bunch of enemies (Buckingham palace is a good place).

Get a little bit of distance between you and the enemies.

Now you know when you are the right distance form them to complete the counter shot as Jacob/Evie, will pull out their cane ready to fight. Just hit triangle when prompted and you will get the counter shot. You know this is done correctly as you will shoot before the enemy does and your bullet count will not decrease.

You need to shoot at the enemy at the moment when the shooting icon above him lights up, but before he shoots at you.

Equip yourself with the worst brass knuckles (low damage to the enemy) and take any pistol, maybe the most common “Dirringer” (personally, I used the M1877 “Thunderer” with a high rate of fire. As it turned out, it’s good for them to gain the “Duelist” trait in parallel with getting a trophy), and so It is advisable to have an enlarged cartridge pouch (you will need to shoot, and in general, the more cartridges, the better).
Climb to the roof of Buckingham Palace. It is patrolled by 4 soldiers (nice, calm guys) and they are all at a distance from each other, you will work with them one at a time. For a soldier to get angry and want to shoot at you, and for you to enter combat mode, you need to run up to the soldier, attract his attention and hit him once in the face with brass knuckles. Then you immediately run away from him a short distance (5 steps), stop... and that’s it - the duel begins. As soon as the target icon lights up above the soldier, and the triangle button icon above you, quickly shoot at the soldier by pressing the button once (this is the shot we need). One soldier can get several of these shots, depending on the lethality of the pistol (for the Dirringer pistol this is 4 shots). You finish off the poor fellow and search him - often he will have a cartridge for you. Repeat until you get the trophy.
Plus, during a duel, when firing, cartridges are not wasted (I don’t know why this is so, perhaps a bug, but it was and is so in my game), so you don’t have to run for cartridges (but if that happens, there is a merchant right next to the palace ). Another huge plus is the flat roof, it’s convenient to run on it, and you’ll run in circles, because... It turned out that when you run around the circle, 2 soldiers will respawn in their original places. In the screenshots you can see a bunch of shaggy hats lying on the roof. But if you want there to always be 4 soldiers, then for respawn, on the roof of the palace, there is a fast travel point (you will appear right on the roof).

Everything is much simpler. Whether your hero shoots or dodges depends on how far you are from the target. If you are very far away, then you dodge, if about 4-5 steps from the enemy, then by pressing you shoot back.

In order to have a guaranteed shot, you do not need to press 2 times , you just need the character to be in combat mode, namely to hold a melee weapon in his hand (for example, a cane-blade), then you will be able to shoot 100% every attempt).

The very description of the trophy “Shoot 50 enemies before they shoot at you” is not entirely correct, because... shooting should mean killing, but for a trophy you just need to shoot back in the ways described above, killing is not necessary.

It's much easier to aggro them one at a time in Buckingham Palace and run around the guard until he wants to shoot. And on the roof in general there are only arrows who do not attack in hand-to-hand combat.

In order for the hero to shoot back, you must have a pistol selected in the equipment menu on the right.

Anyone who read the hint above may not understand it correctly and will spend hours running around pressing triangle, like I did. The main thing is that your enemy, in my experience - these are the arrows in Buckingham Palace, those that stand on the roof around the perimeter and every time they respam, are highlighted in white. Jacob at this time takes out a kukri, or whatever you have, and the shooter, who noticed you, first took aim, lighting up yellow, and then immediately white. At this moment, over Jacob (why not over Evie? Are you playing as her? I’m just for leveling up skills and achievements. I don’t trust women in battle. Although the girl herself) that same triangle lights up, then press it. If the damage of your pistol is maximum, then the soldiers in fur hats will fall down immediately after the first shot. I used the first pistol. He gets two shots, then dies. The most interesting thing is that if the soldier is standing, swaying, and you finish him off with your hands, this will not be counted as a skill. And I got the achievement after the 14th fallen unfortunate duelist. And yes, if you do everything correctly, then your cartridges are not wasted and remain in place. Is this some kind of bonus? I don’t know, but I suffered a fair amount until I figured out what was going on. Someone wrote that this is a very easy achievement. For me, it’s better to wave your hands into the ring for 50 multi-finishes. In short, come on! I hope my epic will somehow help you in obtaining this achievement, which is incomprehensible to me.

It is best to run along the roof of Buckingham Palace (in a circle) and stand behind the guards, aiming at them, then whistle so that they turn around and a triangle will immediately appear on which you press, then run to the neighboring ones and so on until you get the trophy.

This trophy is not associated with any trait and there is no way to know how many required kills have been completed.
The "Duelist" trait counts towards the achievement, but I only had a score of 10-12 in it, and the trophy dropped.

If there were two enemies on the way, he killed one so as not to rush about, and danced in circles with the second, running around him until he reached the barrel. It is important that the enemy glows white, otherwise there will be simply a dodging of the shot, and not a counter-shot.

A counterattack with a firearm works every time on a flat surface; if you are higher or lower than the enemy, the assassin will dodge the shot.

To level up the “duelist” trait, you need to stand facing the enemy (neither your back nor your side) and shoot when the triangle lights up. This will make it easier to keep track of the first 25 kills.

First, we need to wear the most naked brass knuckles and the most naked pistol so that we can profit more from one person, then if you have it, I advise you to wear the Scoundrel Costume to reduce the damage that people will damage you.
We need to go to Westminster and make our way to Buckingham, then we aggro all the guards in the territory and collect them in one pile, then we simply repel attacks in close combat and make our trophy in long-range combat.
Video tip.

For a guaranteed shot, press 2 times while the icons above you and the enemy are lit. I made a trophy in this way quite quickly in the territory of the liberation of children.

For those who have completed everything, the palace will not be a red zone, we go to the Wellington barracks located nearby and aggro the guards, collecting them in a heap, it is more convenient to run looking at them (as if backwards), they start shooting as soon as you run away from them a little , i.e. The tactic is this: block the attack, run away, shoot - triangle, repeat. When they run out, run away from the barracks, they will respawn. In principle, the method works on any enemies, it’s just more convenient in the red zone (here in the blue). Don’t take a weak pistol, it has no speed and range, better than the Colt Lightning type.

There are some nuances that you may want to know for better clarity.
1) Bugingham Palace. In fact, there are not 4 but 5 shooters at the top. The fifth one is in the left corner, if you are facing the White Living Room . It is on the top floor under the roof; with eagle vision, it will immediately be highlighted. It's easy to get there through an open window. True, there is another guardsman who is not a shooter. First, we remove it and calmly play a duel with the shooter. At the same time, he also respawns, so when you run around there will be not only 3 arrows. This reduces time, even though you need to go down to it, verified
2) A There is a regular shot if you click on early, the cartridge is wasted.
B There is a shot something like perfect if you pressed at the last moment, the cartridge is not wasted.
3 There is a point: if you go by the Duelist trait, then the duelist's point is counted only for the death of the shooter. But provided that if you have a pistol with low damage, you can fire 2 shots at the shooter, both count towards the count, since my trophy fell relative to the Duelist 17/25 trait
But there is one BUT . I don’t quite understand how all this works with weapons with high damage. With a powerful weapon, you kill the shooter with one shot, but the Duelist point is not given. Possible Requires two successful counter attacks per point. But every successful one goes into the overall standings.

Unfortunately, due to the clumsy mechanics of the game, you will have to earn this trophy for a long time. The fact is that the GG will not always make a counter-shot by pressing triangle. Once in a while he can dodge rather than shoot.
The point is simple, you should have a pistol on your ranged weapon. It is advisable to take a pistol with low damage in order to gain achievements on the same enemy many times. The trophy is best done on arrows; they are marked on the map differently than other mobs.

Video tip.
The essence is simple, we enter the territory for the liberation of children, collect all the mobs, pull them along with us, run outside the red zone and duel with the mobs. Mobs will not leave the red zone, so they will only shoot at you.

The trophy is very simple and easy to get. All the tips given here are very long and complex. Found mine.
Let's go to repeat the mission Chapter 4, memory 4, where we learned to poison enemies with darts through a fire. Before we set off, we need to be in armor for physical protection, the number of cartridges should be pumped to the maximum and first aid kits should also be pumped to the maximum. There will be about 20 enemies, 15 of them shooting. They cost 3-5 people. We aggrim the packs one by one, we don’t hit anyone or counterattack, we just run around them and wait until someone from the pack starts shooting and press .
IMPORTANT: you must be close to the enemy so that the character pulls out a weapon, otherwise you will not shoot back, but dodge. It doesn’t matter what kind of pistol, the main thing is to have a lot of cartridges. As soon as the enemies are over, we restart from the last point. The trophy is knocked out in 10-15 minutes.

Full of enemies with guns - in the center of the bridge in the missions of the First World War.
Alternate counterattacks with with return shots at 10 minutes and the trophy is yours.
