Simply play through any stage without ever using the shield (). This is easier in Arcade Mode as there are fewer enemies and they are not as aggressive. On the suit configuration screen you can unequip the shield if you find yourself activating it instinctively. If you're having trouble getting this on stage 1, try it on a later stage with additional armor equipped, so you can absorb more enemy bullets without dying.
