Samples are easy to find, a prompt should appear when you are in range to collect it then Hold
The easiest way is to start the tutorial where the game literally points you in the direction of Research Samples and ask you to collect them.
And if you finish said tutorial you get another achievement.

Where is the tutorial?

This guide is useless, doesn't tell me how to access the tutorial or how to find a sample or anything.
