When an ally has been grabbed by a Titan and is about to be eaten, you need to attack the Titan anywhere on it’s body to make them drop the person.
You can tell if someone is about to be eaten by listening out for loud screaming and picking out the Titan looking down into one of his hands.
You will almost certainly unlock this just by playing through the game, as it occurs fairly frequently.
