Wood is the base resource for most things in this game so this will come quite naturally as you need lots of wood to build everything.
For this you will need just an axe to chop down a tree.
I would highly advice to put everything dropped by a felt tree into storgaes automatically as it's all useful resources for other things.
I would even advice to automatically produce axes by your bots as you will need tons of them to harvest wood.
Further bots should be automated to remove the remaining tree stumps and to plant new trees to have an ongoing prodution cycle.
