You will normally base your automated production lines on storages so to not have any shortages if you need more of anything at some point.
3 Storages can be added a top of each other making it possible to store up to 100 resources in one.
Later on they even can be enhanced to even store up to 1000 of one resource.
My production lines were normally built in a way that I assigned my bots to produce something and put the result in a storage.
While the next bots would take from that storage to produce the next product and so on.
So you will have a lot of storages and this heevo should come pretty early.
Of cours it could probably also be cheesed by putting something into and out of a storgae repeadedly, but why do that if it omes natuarally anyway.

Sorry, thought that would be pretty clear, but has been a while since I played the game so not totally sure anymore.
You probably have to research an early technology for storages there are pallets for wood and bricks, barrles for liquids and crates for everything else.
If someone playing this can verify, I can add it to the solution.
