How to unlock the Peak Performance achievement in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - Definitive Guide
When you get a good distance into Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you’ll have accrued enough skill points to try and unlock one of the game’s 5 Apex Skills - there’s one for each skill tree (Survivor, Warrior, Hunter, Maker and Rider).
In order to unlock an Apex Skill, you’ll have to do two things:
- Firstly, purchase all skills within that skill tree.
- Secondly, complete an Apex Challenge (like a side quest).
Once you’ve completed the aforementioned Apex Challenge, the Apex Skill will now be yours, as will the ‘Peak Performance’ trophy.
Now, it’ll depend on how much you focus on a specific skill tree, as to how early you’ll be able to unlock this. First things first, don’t worry about putting all your skill points into one tree - there’s more than enough in Pandora to make this unmissable. In fact, we currently have 3 Apex Skills as it stands.
When it comes to the challenges, they differ from skill tree to skill tree - as do the Apex Skills themselves. The Apex Skills for each skill tree can be found at the top of the relevant skill tree page i.e. at the top of the Survivor skill tree, you’ll see the Second Wind Apex Skill tied to that skill tree.
Right, let’s talk about the challenges themselves. The 3 main ones that we went for are as follows:
- The Bow Master (Maker skill tree) - Craft a Energizing Longbow.
- The Perfect Hunt (Survivor skill tree) - Take down a Feral Viperwolf and Feral Thanator with clean kills.
- Powerful Shots (Warrior skill tree) - Defeat an AMP Commando hitting only weak points and armor with the Spear Thrower and the Heavy Bow.
Out of the above, the hardest is in fact The Bow Master, as it’s tough to get the relevant materials to make the bow, while the other two are easily obtainable.
For The Perfect Hunt, all you need to do is kill a Feral Viper Wolf and a Feral Thanator with only weak point shots - to register a “clean kill.” Doing so will complete that Apex Challenge. If you focus on the Survivor skill tree early on, you’ll have plenty of time to get this Apex Challenge completed, and you’ll likely do it without even knowing about it - like we did.
And then there’s the Warrior skill tree Apex Challenge, which is just as obtainable - although a touch harder. All you need to do for that is head to an RDA Outpost/Installation, and then scan to see if there’s an AMP Commando in the vicinity. If there is, clear out the camp of everyone else so it’s just you and the AMP Commando. Then, take pot shots at the Commando, hitting only the weak spots. The best way to do it is to get behind it, hit the weak spot, and then disappear from its line of sight, and then make your way around the back of it without being seen, to take another shot at the weak point on its back. Then, it’s just a matter of rinse and repeat. If you have the Silent Destroyer skill in the Hunter skill tree too, it’ll make this challenge a lot easier.
So, finish an Apex Challenge (whichever one you find easiest), get an Apex Skill, and unlock the ‘Peak Performance’ trophy.
