How to unlock the Sol Survivor achievement in Aven Colony - Definitive Guide

This can be done in sandbox mode as well [note: Nad Destroyer says this no longer works in sandbox - ymmv]; it will pop at the beginning of Sol 51. Recommend you create a high morale base for the Rigged Elections achievement using favorable sandbox settings, and then just let it run. Even at 8x speed one Sol takes about 2 minutes, so it takes some time.

This worked for me...thanks. I did find, though, that you do need to pay a little bit of attention if you don't want your buildings to fall into complete disrepair. I didn't build a research center, so had to do repairs manually. Probably could have gotten the achievement without repairs, but I didn't like seeing all the red thermometers on my structures. smile

I did this in sandbox mode and the achievement didn't trigger. I waited to the beginning of sol 52. Guess I'll try this on a mission.

Hmmm, sorry about that Nad Destroyer, it used to work but perhaps it was patched out. I'll add a warning.

I unlocked it in Sandbox mode. I have found that achievements in this game would stop tracking/unlocking occasionally, and closing and reopening the game would fix it. It was on a Series X and I've seen other One games have issues with it. No idea what's up with it, but still good to know.

I suggest going for this at the end of any mission in the campaign. You might already be half way through, so it will take much less time.

If your colony is stable, set the speed to 8x and let the game run while you do other things. Just keep an eye out for morale... if it gets too low and there's a referendum, you might actually lose and have to do it again. That's why I suggest doing it in a mission with the Unity artifact (especially Tenari Glacier) - activating it will give the morale a significan boost, if it's necessary.

To make the colony stable, enable some policies (auto repair drones, free gaming etc.), make sure you have enough power, drone coverage, turret coverage... lower immigration rate (you don't need more people).

Since you have a lot of time on your hands, you can work towards other achievements (like uncovering the fog on the expedition map), manufacturing candy etc.

This can be done on any mission that you have stabilized and protected. The hardest part will be to ensure your colonist are at least 50% happy with you so they don't boot you out during referendums. Stop immigration and ensure all colonists are employed and happy. Speed the game to 8x and disable the "crisis" speed option in the options menu (Options => Crisis Speed => Off). This will take upwards to two hours to complete from scratch but doesn't have to be done in one sitting, thus you can save your game and come back later.

This can also be done in Sandbox mode with the following settings:

Map: Any
Starting Resources: High
Environmental Events: Off
Mission Objectives: Population Growth
Morale: Very High
Minerals: Extreme
Referendums: Off
Cargo Pods: Extra Resources
Resupply Pods: 3 Beacons
Expedition Difficulty: Easy

The most boring trophy. I advise you to do it on missions where there is an overabundance of resources. It’s also better at a time when your mission has taken a long time, and the colony is in perfect condition. Just to waste less time. I barely survived, as the ore for the power plant ran out and on Sol 49 my entire colony was cut off.

Despite the fact that the description of the trophy says “in any mission,” the trophy also drops in the sandbox, which, in my opinion, makes it much easier to obtain because In the starting settings of the sandbox, it is possible to increase the number of resources and boxes in a location to the maximum and reduce the number of disasters to a minimum.

I did it in the first mission in sandbox mode, there were a lot of resources, no external disasters, I developed a colony of up to 200-250 people. After that, the migration center was closed so that no more people would arrive. Provided the colony with energy, food and water, installed fans, a store, etc.. In general, I achieved stability from shocks, turned on the acceleration of time 8 times and went to cook borscht . From time to time I came up and saved, because once I lost the elections, because the energy dropped and the water pump turned off. In the process, you can correct it by inserting additional fans and filters into the colony, police drones, etc. I used all the geothermal reactors and 2 zorium reactors. By the end, there were still 8,000 zorium left to the people and the consumption was also low. I got the achievement after spending about an hour.
