This is your character level. Which is shown at the Main Menu. NOT your in-game level, which is represented by the Pink Bar at the top of the screen. Your in-game restarts every time you go back to the main menu or finish an Arena (Set of Levels). However your Character Level adds up over multiple playthroughs.
