How to unlock the Good Riddence! achievement in Back 4 Blood - Definitive Guide
The classic grind returns... so this is my approach currently to push the kill count up, if it needs improvement please let me know. We were averaging 1100 - 1400 in 40 minutes with this approach on rookie difficulty with two players.
Currently you need to be in co-op for this achievement, solo runs do not currently pop achievements
Act 3 - Chapter - The Road to Hell - has an infinite spawn of ridden that run at you head on. This section is right before the safe room, it is the section where you push the button to open the gate setting off the alarm.
Cards
A key card for this run is the confident killer card, you obtain this from killing one of each non-boss mutations. I got this through natural story progression. It will help to drop special ridden much quicker. I would recommend having it on both players.
At this time of writing I have not discovered every card in the game, if you know of other useful cards drop them in the comments below and I will add to solution.
You will then need to gather supply points (SP) from completing acts to purchase more cards the supply lines function. You will need to obtain the cards from the list below.
Create a custom deck and select cards in the following order, key cards marked in bold, nice to have cards in italics:
- Confident Killer = grants +1% damage to the team for special ridden kills. Goes up to 15% max.
- Ammo Stash = infinite sidearm ammo, with -20% slower reload
- Reload Drills = 20% faster reload
- Widemouth Magwell = 30% faster reload, 5% reduction to damage resistance
- Ridden Slayer = 20% more damage to weak spots
- Reckless Strategy = 30% more damage to weak spots, 5% reduction to damage resistance
- Combat Training = 5% more bullet damage, 50% more bullet penetration
- Large Calibre Rounds = 7.5% more bullet damage, 100% more bullet penetration, -20% stamina efficiency
- Hydration Pack = gain 25 hit points, - 15% ammo capacity
- Patient Hunter = Gain 10% damage every second you look down the gun sights. Goes up to 30% max
- Grenade Training = 25% more accessory damage
- Demolitions Expert = 50% more accessory damage, - 15% ammo capacity
- Mag Carrier = 30% more ammo capacity for pistols/SMG, 10% more pistol/SMG damage
- Antibiotic Ointment = 20% more healing efficiency
- Avenge the Fallen = 30% more damage, 20% more reload and unlimited ammo for 10 seconds
Make sure that the cards are added to the deck in this order! The first 6 cards will be automatically applied.
The card build will give you unlimited ammo in your sidearm, fast reload and damage output
Character and Equipment
I would recommend Karlee, Karlee will always start with a T9 sidearm. However, this is not mandatory as when you spawn into the level you may find a T9 sidearm on the floor or in the shop.
From the shop purchase anything that increases the magazine size and damage of the T9 sidearm.
I would recommend that you stock up as much of the possible of the following:
- Pipe bombs - Throw these if you find yourself getting overrun by the horde, it will attract their attention
- Medical Kits - So you can heal
- Stun Guns - So you can break free of grapples
I would also recommend having at least one bot with you. Bots have unlimited ammo and they always care to share it with you.
Campaign
Start up - Act 3 - Chapter - The Road to Hell
Progress through the level until you reach an area with a tent like tunnel, the first gate will trip an alarm summoning the infinite horde.
Enter the door and look to the right to see the horde coming at you, stay here and shoot the horde using you T9 sidearm with infinite ammo. The horde does not stop coming and they come at you directly, none will spawn behind you. The corridor is long enough to dispatch of special ridden before they reach you.
It's going to take a long time, a very long time, but this seems to be a way to farm ridden kills. Good Luck!

Great guide! I really hate nonsense grind achievement out of nowhere like this...

All these other methods listed are great but personally for me I found this video by
Drago Masamune Gaming on YouTube to be the most efficient method. I hope it helps.

This is the best solution here. With the right cards you can just rubber band your trigger and let it go for hours. I just did 14k kills in 3 hours of letting it run.

Clipping has been fixed. So your position doesn't work anymore.
But if you position yourself closer to the door, it still works. Sometimes an exploder or tall boy will knock you back and you need to readjust.

-AFK Kill Farm-
I'm using the method in this video, with some tweaks, credit to iczyje on YT:
I suggest everyone watch the video, so you get a sense of what the plan is.
DECK
You want to put on:
-Offensive Scavenger
-Double Grenade Pouch
-Grenade Pouch
-Knowledge is Power
-Hazard Pay
-Share The Wealth
-Confident Killer
-Ignore The Pain
You don't need anymore, since you only have this many cards on this level. Mostly the cards are just to carry more razor wire on the setup and help deal with specials.
Set Up
Right, disable crossplay in the preference menu. Should be on the play tab, second from the bottom. This will help you stay in a solo game with bots, if not just try researching until you are in a game on your own. You can have a friend join and put it on private, then have them back out once in-game, to get you into a solo game.
So you want to put it on Act 3, T5 checkpoint on Recruit difficulty.
Select Karlee for her toolkit and put your cards on. You should have about 2750 of copper. Buy as much razor wire as you can and dump it at the box, also go grab the bat from the next room. Then head outside and grab any money on the table nearby or the attic room. Go back to the safe room, buy more razor wire and now start ferrying it upstairs and dropping it off the ledge into the mansion area. Once done jump down and again get it all to the front door of the mansion. If you have time, look around for a good gun and better melee weapon if you find one.
Once the door opens you will see a large staircase right in front of you. Start razor wiring it, put it down sideways so it covers the most distance going upstairs. If that makes sense. Keep doing this with your razor wire all the way to the top floor. You should have a long razor wire snake going up from the ground floor to the top floor. Any spare just fill gaps and put it spread out at the base of the staircase. Now what you'll find is the common ridden will be damaged so much from the razor wire, that they'll die before getting to top floor. So you just have to worry about specials. Common can come from the back stair case, but only if you are at that side of the building.
Next you can if you want to search the house for better weapons/melee weapons if you want, or more razorwire. Can be risky, your choice.
Next kill the orge, so you don't have to worry about that. Just shoot it from the top floor, no common should be bothering you up there.
Once thats done, go out on to the roof and use Karlee's tool kit to unlock the minigun. Go to the room that is just to the right as you come upstairs, its the one with the globe in the corner. Place the minigun in the doorway of that room. Miniguns block specials from entering, tallboys just stand on top of it.
Make sure your AI is in the room with you, walk back, maybe jump out the window. Just so they're away from the minigun.
Now you want to stand on top of the chest of drawers to the left of the door and just hold down the RT. Specials who make it past the razorwire will just pile up there and you can melee them through the wall.
Now you can just rubber band your controller, I found rubberbanding the LT & RT buttons stopped me from being kicked.
I went out for 1.5/2 hours and came back to 6k kills and it was still going.
Note: This isnt foolproof, the game has alot of RNG. So sometimes a special might find a way to mess it up. But I was lucky and didnt have many issues. Armoured zombies are the biggest annoyance because I think they can survive the razor wire. If you get them, I'd just restart the level.
Here's a video of it in action. https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/boydo1990/video/146979064
Here's an alternative way, likely, not AFK effective due to the specials.

Been using this method today. I think this is probably the best way to farm these kills solo so I gave you a thumbs up.
I can add a couple of things that might be useful to the solution above:
- This works in solo now (my accolade counter went up using this method in solo and I tested that achievementss will pop in solo mode, with a golden skull achievement. (which worked)
- You can actually pick one more card than the 8 you listed (i was allowed to pick 9). So i went with a movespeed card so it was less problematic to get all the razor wire to the door.
- I did not necesarrily have to kill the ogre. Since I was sitting on top of the globe he threw mudballs against the door, that partially shields the globe for a while untill he moved away to the side of the building and stayed there for the entire time.
- I had well over 3k gold at the start (i don't know if they buffed the amount you start with or anything) but I could comfortably buy the razor wire upgrade and still had more than enough to buy plenty of razor wire.

You can still do this. Just replace the Offensive Inventory cards with Quick Slot Inventory cards:
remove
-Offensive Scavenger
-Double Grenade Pouch
-Grenade Pouch
add
-Belt Clip
-Utility Belt
-Tool Belts
And yes, miniguns won't block special zombies anymore (found this out the hard way while playing solo Nightmare), but I did find a spot that mostly protects you from them. In the corner bedroom by the top of the stairs, there is some furniture in the corner covered by cloth. Climb on and stay near the wall. Some of the special's AI will be confused and instead go into the adjacent room and idle. The only issue I've seen is that rarely bots will shoot an exploder as it clips through the wall, sending you flying off of your perch. Alternatively, you can crouch between the window and the cloth-covered furniture, but then all specials will enter the room (I haven't tested it long-term yet, so I don't know if the bots can hold out indefinitely.) The bots will mostly hang around your room and the outside awning and are pretty good about eliminating any specials that make it inside with you. It also has the added benefit of preventing the bots from shooting the normal ridden running through the razor wire.
Rubber-banding isn't necessary for offline mode either. You won't get kicked for idling, and there is still no pause for a disconnected controller.

Kinda like the other guide but more kills..good melee build is a must! Have a friend jump in and go with u almost to the saferoom and then he can die and take over the bots and kill them off so its just you. Go in saferoom and sit to the side of the door and just keep swinging..i got about 2000 kills in a half hour approximately..hawkers and stalkers can't get u so u can just obliterate anything that comes through.
SOLO - EASY DIFFICULTY - Act 1 Part 4-3 About half way thru the level you’ll end up in a long tight hallway leading up to the mine. Go up about 75% of the way to trigger the zombie spawn point at the top. Drop barb wire in front and behind you. Large amounts of zombies will constantly be spawning and charging at you. The bots will usually be focusing the zombies behind you and the barb wire will slow them down in between reloads. I would recommend an LMG with a extended magazine. Also since playing solo with bots, the bots will be constantly dropping you ammo thus giving you infinite ammo. I killed about 5,500-6,000 in about an hour
All the solution I have seen on TA are great , but I found another way how to get this by just being Idle on Solo
Rrequirments:
Characters Tala ( for her special to bleed zombies once hit)
Chapter 1-4 the crossing
Cards anything with money and xtra gear
First barricade the ouside the safe room door using wire traps and have them surround the door .
Next procced through the first area and shoot the fire tank, this will spawn the infinite horde the run back n the safe room. All the way to the back so the bots don't shoot any zombies ,the bots will take care of special infected
You will gain around 2500 kils in around 45 mins
I would recommend to keep restarting the mission after this kill target 2500 as the game lags really bad due to the infected spawning continues
Just do the same process again this should take you around 2 3 days depending on your completion of the games

AFK Kill Farm- UPDATED FOR 2023
This is meant to be a combination of boydo1990's guide, iczyg's yt vid and ba.nan.a's article over on gameplay.tips so all credit goes to them. This will serve to be a sort of frankenstein of all their best tips.
Before you set up a match, set your Xbox to 'Do Not Turn Off Automatically'. This will help when you're afk.
This method will be done in offline-solo.
DECK:
Utility Belt, Belt Clip and Tool Belts are for carrying more quick items. You'll end up carrying 5 quick-items in total. Hazard Pay, Share The Wealth and Compound Interest are for copper. With these cards, you'll start out the level with 5,700 copper. Utility Scavenger to spawn more razor wire. And finally Glass Cannon for damage. Base damage is the only thing that impacts the damage output for razor wire so most if not all the cards you can choose from only impact gun damage meaning they won't help raise the damage for razor wire. You can choose whatever cards you'd like for the rest of the deck. I ended up going for movement cards and a weakspot damage one for the Ogre.
CHARACTER/CLEANER:
For your character/cleaner, choose TALA (for her bleed out ability). If you don't have the dlc, choose WALKER (for his +10% damage). You could choose KARLEE to carry another quick-item but imo, WALKER and TALA's buffs are much more useful.
GAMEPLAY NOTES:
Map; ACT 3- 1.5 (T-5). Difficulty; Recruit.
You should have the option to choose from the 4 'base cards'. I chose the 'Ammo' cards everytime to get +4% damage. You can also choose the 'Fortune' card to get an additional 200 copper but these 2 are the only cards you should go after. If you can, purchase the quick-item upgrade. This will essentially turn 1 wire, into 3.
Spend all your copper on wire. After that, loot around the starting area for more copper to get enough for an additional wire. Also, go and grab the sniper next to the first aid kit (this'll help with the Ogre). After you're done purchasing the wire, start transferring them down from the ledge.
Now that all the wire is down, transfer them to the front of the house's front entrance. After the door is open start placing the wires all along the stairs, filling in any gaps you see. If you have any wires remaining, you can start placing them towards the front entrance.
Next, eliminate the Ogre. This is where the sniper comes in handy. Just starting hitting his weakspots until he gets pissed off, and runs away, you don't actually have to kill him.
Next, start placing 2/3 of the objective containers in the back on the truck. When you're done, carry the last container with you upstairs and go afk in a corner. After 1,000 kills the game starts to lag pretty bad (at least for me, while playing on the X1) so the quickest way I found to end the match is to just place the last container on the truck to complete the mission instead of waiting around to die.
This step isn't really necessary as the achievement will pop mid match, however if you're over 20,000 or even 10,000 kills away from the achievement like I was, it might be best to stretch this method out over shorter more contained sessions so you're not having your console on for tens of hours at a time.

This will most likely be the last Trophy you will obtain, a Single Run through an act is likely to net you around 1-2k Kills.
There is an easy way to boost kills however.
Equip a build with the following cards:
Pyro, Double Grenade Pouch, Grenade Pouch, Demolitions Expert, Improvised Explosives, Grenade Training, Pinata, Highwayman, Ammo Stash, Mag Carrier, Breakout, Fire in the Hole!, Magicians Apprentice, Glass Cannon, Confident Killer.
Play offline on the level 'The Road to Hell' on Act 3 on Recruit or Veteran as Hoffman and get to the end of the level where you need to run through the checkpoints to the saferoom. Reach the saferoom but do not close the door, instead wait at the end and continue killing the infinite horde. Use molotovs freely as Pinata and Hoffman's personal skill should continue to spawn more molotovs. Fire in the Hole! and Pyro will keep your health topped off with temporary health so if any ridden or mutations slip through, you should have enough health to deal with them. Use your secondary pistol or a Tec9 if you find one for more chances to spawn molotovs via the Highwayman card. If ridden drop razorwire, place it freely around the area to assist with kills and defense. Depending on the types of mutations which spawn, Breakout should be played incase crushers, stalkers or hockers break through.
Note - Bot teammates are really good at kill stealing, so it may be worth playing on veteran to dispatch 1 or 2 of them. I recommend keeping at least 1 around for emergency situations or for primary weapon ammo and healing.

-Mission T-5 (Second Act) on a recruit.
-Pick Carly and pray for the benefit of upgrading useful items in the store (to get green quality barbed wire).
-We buy as much barbed wire as possible (I got 8).
-We place the wire on the stairs.
-Don’t forget to take the toolkit with you (which is given to Carly at the start) to open the box with the minigun.
-We place the minigun in the doorway so that special mutants cannot pass through.
-Kill the Ogre boss and make sure that the bots are in the room with you.
-For safety, we sit in the corner of the room on a globe.
-We sit and wait and farm the kills that barbed wire gives us.
I did the whole manipulation at 23:40, having ~33k kills, and left it overnight (the main thing is to remember to turn off the sleep mode). The trophy dropped at 7:04. It took a little over 7 hours to get 20k.
