How to unlock the Busker achievement in Baldur's Gate 3 - Definitive Guide
This achievement will take a bit of playtime to unlock, the life of a street performer isn't glamorous folks
IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY STARTED YOUR PLAYTHROUGH I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PICK A BARD
While it is possible to unlock musical instrument proficiency on other characters, bards will start with it meaning as soon as you begin your adventure you can take to the streets to begin performing/begging
To perform open your action menu and select your instrument of choice and song to begin playing, once the performance has started nearby NPCs will crowd around and (if your lucky) each crowd member may bless you with the ocasssional single gold piece. Single. As in one. Yeah.
Your options are to either perform until your fingers bleed in the biggest population center you find until you get all 100 required, or if progressing through the game normally to avoid a bit of grind you can just perform for a while each time you encounter new groups of people. Below I'll list areas populated with NPCs ready and willing to throw pity change at you, Good Luck!
Act I
Tiefling Refuge at Emerald Grove (main location of Act 1, can't miss it)
Druid's Grove (inside Emerald Grove past Tiefling Refuge Camp)
Waukeen's Rest (northwest of Emerald Grove, help the people there get their friend out of the building on fire before playing some fire beats)
Goblin Camp (western area of the map, south of Waukeen's Rest)
Githyanki Creche (after entering the Mountain Pass area, they can be found inside the temple)
Grymforge (area in the Underdark reached via boat ride at the Decrepit Village)
Act II
Last Light Inn (central area of Act 2, progress through the Shadowlands until scene where Harpers will lead you to the area for shelter, easier to find if entering from Underdark)
Moonrise Towers (southern most point in the Shadowlands area, you will be going here eventually as the plot revolves heavily around this location)
Act III
Baldur's Gate
If you have progressed to Act 3 and have still not accumulated your 100 gold from performing, you will be doing your remaining performances in the titular city Baldur's Gate, the largest and most populous city available to you
Additional Tips
Sometimes you get gold, sometimes you get no gold, sometimes you might get gold but it doesn't count toward your progress. If you keep an eye on your progress and get gold from performing and notice the progress from 0-100 has gone up I recommend you save to be safe. In the event you find you're obtaining lots of gold but getting no progress, try loading save files and keep an eye on progress until it starts going up again

You get more than 1 gold depending on how many people are in the area you pull over to you. I've had a full crowd and made up to 4 gold so far.
Been lucky enough that I haven't had any gold not count yet. I'm at the Goblin Camp in act 1 and already at 80%, just play when around groups, go to a different area, go back to previous groups.

that works great too! Like I said nothing stopping you from grinding them all out in the first population center you find, bit of a grind though. If you're in Act 3 farming is much easier in Baldurs Gate but note the bigger your crowd is the higher your performance check will be

Hunterica already did a good guide on this but I thought I would add some more clarification on how busking seems to work. I did this whole achievement in Baldur's Gate Lower City in maybe 10 minutes with this method.
So firstly how it works. To busk you need to be around a group of NPCs. If you have a musical instrument equipped you should have an action to play the instrument with a few song choices (the song choice doesn't seem to matter). Select the play action and the NPCs should move towards you and start commenting on your music.
A few seconds after you start playing you should get a performance check, this is the point where it is decided if you will get gold or not. I recommend putting whatever buffs you can on your character that last a long time, like Enhance Ability or any elixir that affects charisma or skills beforehand as the check is fairly high. Regardless of if you pass the check or not you can stop playing by moving your character until the name of the song appears crossed out over your head. At this point the NPCs will either move away or start to clap, if they clap that means they are about to toss a single coin for you so wait a few seconds for the NPCs to finish that animation then collect the coins off the ground.
There is a short cooldown for NPCs before you can busk them again so its best to find a few groups you can rotate between. I found the best spot is in the Lower City next to the Baldur's Gate waypoint in the northwest of the city. There is a square just south of it with a statue in the middle. If you simply keep busking in the 4 corners of this square you should be able to get to 100 gold fairly quickly.
I am not sure if you actually have to pick up the gold to trigger the achievement but for me it popped as I was picking up gold so you might have to.

If you're not playing a bard, hire the npc bard. Just play something near crowds of regular folk, and when you end playing, some of them throw 1 gp. Repeat until complete.
I did this at the Last Light Inn, and was able to cycle through different crowds to get it faster.

Best way to get this achievement is in act 3. So many large groups of people, it only takes about 10 minutes; Start a performance, and stop as soon as you pass or fail. You dont get money for playing longer.

This can be done in about 10-15 minutes towards the end of act III. Use withers to hire the bard Brinna Brightsong hireling. She will immediately get the same amount of experience as the rest of your party bringing her to hopefully level 12. Level her up giving her the performance, actor, and ability improvement feats. (make sure you do the ability improvement one last otherwise can soft lock the game with the other two if you try and bring your charisma to over 20). Once you have her at level 12 with 20 charisma give her the birthright hat for +2 more charisma bringing her to a total of 22. This all but guarantees a successful play. Then just go to large groups of people around the lower city and the main road in rivington/wyrm's crossing. As soon as you see it says performance successful move and wait a few seconds for everyone to throw money at you. Pick them up to track your progress and move the next group of suckers. I was getting around 15-20 coins per performance. So did it like 5-6 times and the trophy popped up before I even picked up the last coins.

3 options:
1. Create a bard.
2. When you gain a new level, select a trait that allows you to play instruments.
3. Learn to play from Alfira. The girl is a musician, sitting in the tiefling/druid camp in the first act.
Then we just play periodically next to people

We create a hired bard from the withered one - we complete the trophy.

We begin to perform the melody in a crowded place. After a couple of seconds, the dice will be rolled for execution. If we pass the test, we can call it a day and get paid. You can repeat it only after a long rest. It's easiest to do in Act Three.
I also recommend adding a bard buff to the stat advantage - Charisma
