How to unlock the Punch Drunk achievement in Baldur's Gate 3 - Definitive Guide

You can get this achievement anywhere but if you want fast and easy wait for act 3. Go to the Elfsong Tavern and speak with the Chef Roveer in the kitchen. He will ask you to get rid of the rats in the basement. You only need Shadowheart. Take a couple of bottles of wine and enter the basement. Drink a bottle of wine and activate her Spirit Guardian Radiant damage ability. Just stand there while the rat run toward her and die. Theres about 30 rats so the achievement will pop before they are all dead.

I must have killed around 500 rats while drunk before it finally popped. Very buggy.

If you have trouble with this cause it wants to be buggy and have not killed the rats yet in elfsong tavern, the way i got it to count for me was i drank a wine, hit use on stairs, then used 2 throws with smokepowder bombs on the rats and my progress went from 6 kills to complete

Does this have to be done in a single fight, or is it cumulative and can be done over several fights?

had the same issue where it got stuck at 55%. I tried going turned based then drank booze then used shadowhearts cloud dagger aoe started working. At first I drank then attack it was hit or miss. Seems ppl forgot when not in turn based time goes quicker and the booze wears off then that somehow messes with the achievement. Go to high populated area. Go turn mode drink then attack. When I done that every kill counted

If you already killed the cellar rats before going for this achievement you can kill the cranium rats near the morphic pool. I recommend trying to kill all 20 with one attack, say an ice storm because the achievement is mildly buggy.
My strategy was to start combat by attacking on of them with any character but your caster, have everyone skip their turns so the rats all cluster near you, drink and cast ice storm, I got 34 rats with the attack and got the achievement even after it failed to proc before when I spread the rat killing love to several drunk party members.

Perfect solution, worked like a charm.

I’d just like to say, if you did the rats before you realised it would work for the achievement (like me), you can just nuke random people around town while drunk.

To accomplish this achievement, the tavern "Elf Song" is very well suited. Go down to the basement and see a bunch of rats, take a character with an AoE attack, have him drink, and kill the rats.

When you visit Shar's Gauntlet in Act 2 you will soon run into groups of rats which you could either talk to (with a potion of Animal Talking - to find out that there is something special about them) or wait till you run into a special devil in the depths of this dungeon, who tells you about the curse, that is responsible for their strange behaviour. I won't spoil to much about it, but you can begin to kill these rats (they are not hostile per se) until you get another, last warning. If you kill the "messenger rat" as well, there is the possibility later on to get to the feet of the massive Shar-Statue, that looms over the final area in this dungeon.

When you get there you will be confronted with a massive horde of rats, that will be swarming your position. Give Shadowheart something alcoholic to drink in the inventory (best something that holds for more than 2 turns, but 2 turns were enough for me), activate Spirit Guardion (as mentioned in the other guide) and just wait until they are all killed ny this aura. It's enough if you keep your party close enough together, that the rats need to enter "the Zone" to reach your party members but you can also think about sending Shadowheart in alone. Maybe buff here to keep the concentration because some of the rats are necrotic rats and explode, which can break her concentration.

You also get a nice and handy reward for completing the quest as well.

Near Moonrise there is an obese bartender. Failing a save against his drink will leave you drunk until you long rest, giving you lots of time to complete this.

The fastest way is to go down to the basement of the Elven Song tavern, (act 3), there will be a lot of rats. We choose a character with an AoE skill, drink alcohol, and kill.

The achievement works a little crookedly, as I understand, it’s better to kill all 20 in one move, otherwise it wouldn’t count for me, although I definitely killed more than 20 rats during this encounter. But it's still simple:

- take Shadowheart, separate it from the party
- we drink alcohol for her before entering the basement
- let's go in, the battle begins
- just in case, we drink more alcohol + cast ghost guards
- stand in the center of the room
- rats run to the shield and all kill themselves in the first turn

After that the trophy jingled

Not necessarily in one turn or one battle.

Another option, Act 3, with the help of a bard, gather a crowd of people in any central square. Let's make a save. As soon as the crowd gathers, we swell the other team members and use any magic scroll with AOE damage to bring down the poor fellows. We received the trophy, loaded up and made a profit.

Performed in the temple of Baal, drank and killed all the rats in front of the boat (according to the plot).
