How to unlock the A Grym Fate achievement in Baldur's Gate 3 - Definitive Guide

So, this was actually quite easy, did it first try and everything!

It’s important to understand a few things firstly, Grym can only be damaged when he has the “Superheated” condition, which he gains from being in lava. Secondly, Grym will only go after the most recent person that attacked it. So make sure to turn off attacks of opportunity and similar things. Third of all, his biggest weakness it to bludgeoning damage.

Before the fight I equipped 3 of party with my best bludgeoning weapons, and had them wait by the wheel that activates the lava. I then had a magic caster stand over by the lever that slams the forge hammer.

When Grym appeared, I had the group of 3 hit him with everything I could, and made sure to end with the caster hitting Grym. This makes it so when its Gryms turn, he’ll chase down the caster.

Using this I would alternate between pummelling Grym with the group of 3 & then blasting him with my caster, steadily wearing Grym down till he fell.

When it's in the lava, it's vulnerable to bludgeoning damage. It tries to attack whoever attacked it last, so hit it with a hammer, then shoot it from far away so it won't kill he hammerer.

Available through the Underdark: Grymforge map, the Adamantium Forge located in the northwest part of the map invites you to try your hand at smithing an item out of Mithral. Along the way to this location, you may come across some item moulds that you can eventually forge into something, as well as two Mithral veins (the second being guarded by tons of Mephits). Whichever you decide, you must make it to the forge platform itself to start the process. Insert a mould into the proper, smaller receptacle near the forge plate, while placing the Mithral upon the forge plate. With these conditions met, pull the lever on the right to smelt it together and lower the platform. Without heating the metal up, though, you will not be able to get your completed item just yet, so the lowered platform comes with access to opening the lava vents.

Opening said vents invites the wrath of the Adamantine Golem, a Lv.10 Golem with 300 hp. Starting the fight, it will actually be weak to Bludgeoning damage due to standing in the lava, meaning you have two turns to do a decent amount of damage to it before the buff wears off. If it does, reinvite it into another hot bath by turning the lava vent back on and hope it stands in it. The condition of this trophy asks you not to do any damage to it with the Forge Hammer, which is what you pulled the lever of the lower the platform initially. As long as no damage is done to it using that apparatus, you should be fine.

A hint: whomever deals the last blow on the golem before it gets its turn will be labelled Prime Target, meaning it will be focusing on that. Reactions might need to be disabled or have the "Ask for permission" option to be turned on so you can deal with it more strategically. After enough damage is dealt, it will Awaken, meaning it will now include an earthquake smashing attack unto anyone that is within its range (I think 6 meters?), which might hurt harder than it needs to if you're reeling from an earlier attack.

The boss always attacks the one who last damaged him, so the pattern is very easy + some luck with hits
The main thing is not to attack him with the lever that lowers the hammer in the center of the arena.
Otherwise everything is simple, I did this:
- we take the first character who will deal the main damage (for me it’s Karnakh, I put her in the very center on the crucible, we’ll definitely equip something long-range to pull the aggro)
- we place the second character at the valve to renew the lava
- for the third character we take a mage with an attacking focus, for example, Gale’s “ice ray”
- a fourth character if desired, for example a healer or another ranger

Tactics: we deal damage with a melee unit from the center of the arena, when the golem approaches, we re-aggro it to another corner with a mage, then back to the center and so on until the hp runs out

Made a trophy for tactics in the first act. Here's how:
I went downstairs from the forge for Astarion, leaving the rest of the characters upstairs on the stairs.
He released lava (the golem becomes vulnerable to crushing damage) and simply everyone at the top showered the iron brute with objects with crushing damage - from all sorts of hammers and hatchets to simple torches. One throw does about 30+ damage, so you can handle it easily - you can drink a speed potion if you're worried. Astarion hid invisibly and moved away in case he had to deliver lava again.

The easiest option is to take the illithid ability "Perilous Stakes".
According to the description, the skill provides healing for melee attacks, but the target receives a debuff in the form of VULNERABILITY TO ALL DAMAGE. Although the skill is intended for use on ourselves and teammates, we throw it at the knight and kill it in 3 moves.
It must be taken into account that there is a chance to miss.

I want to complement the tactics with chests. It is not necessary to look for iron chests, you can put gold ones (maybe even with wooden ones) along the ladder where the lava appears, due to the fact that the Golem is large, it will not be able to pass there. I did it in the first act.

The easiest way, we collect empty chests during the second act, it is 100% desirable that there are at least two iron chests, in general you need 2 iron and 8-10 strong ones, before releasing the guard, we line up the chests in a semicircle in front of the place where he appears, We put one of the squad at the valve on the lava, three with crossbows in the center and shoot at the guard, he won’t be able to get out because of the chests, but he will stomp on it, sometimes he will have to heal the one who is releasing the lava
