Band of Bugs

This achievement can only be won in mission 12 of the main story line.

You need to kill more spiders than the barbarians in order to win the achievement.

Try and get your fastest characters (Maal and Rach usually) to the barbarians side as fast as possible (use Haste) and try to steal the kills.

The barbarians can kill a spider in one hit if they get a critical hit (otherwise they hit for 20 damage) so you need to be fast.

It may be worth saving before each move and reloading if the barbarians manage to get a critical.

Remember, you only need to get more than half of the kills (I only managed one more kill than them) for the achievement to count.

This achievement is story-related and takes place in mission 12 of Maal's Story. You are challenged by a tribe of barbarians to a spider hunt. You start in different parts of the map, with spiders scattered around.

This achievement is not particularly difficult. The key is stealing the barbarian kills and going for the contested spiders first. Rach (the archer) is key.

As described there, start by moving Ratama as far forward as possible and casting Haste on Rach. If a barbarian hits a spider, bring Rach forward to the hills between you and the barbarians right away; otherwise, you may want to hold Rach's action until that happens. From that point forward, concentrate on the spiders closest to the barbarians. Hold Rach's action until a barbarian hits a spider, which will do 20 points of damage (if they don't get a critical hit), and then have Rach attack that same spider on the very next opportunity. Since Rach gets two attacks and does 8 normally and 2 with a weak hit, you can even get one weak hit and will still finish the 30 HP spider off, thus stealing the barbarian's kill.

Otherwise, it's just a matter of using your avatar character, your barbarian party member, and Ratama to mop up the spiders that come over on your side of the board.

I wasn't even particularly lucky (the barbarians got one critical hit and surrounded one other spider and killed it before I could do anything), and I still easily got more spiders than they did on the first try.

As with all Band of Bugs missions, the game is very, very luck-driven and the CPU-controlled characters will move in different orders and do different things every game. If you get unlucky, just restart the level and see if you get luckier next time.
