How to unlock the Music Maestro achievement in Banjo-Kazooie - Definitive Guide

The notes on the levels are fairly easy to spot, and they're usually in a position where one will lead you to a few others.

**IMPORTANT: Do NOT attempt Bottles' jigsaw puzzles before collecting all 900 notes because some notes will be lost forever leaving the achievement unnattainable and requring the start of a new save.**

Hmm I thought that this problem was patched but it appears that the exact same thing happened to me.

Yes, this happened to me too. I'm at 896 Notes, I spent 3 hours searching Click Clock Wood for the last 4 only to discover the glitch. Rare REALLY needs to patch this. If you clear the cache on the hard drive does it do anything? Does anyone know if there is a patch coming?

Did you have the newest patch? Unfortunately you may have to restart your game to get these!

I only purchased the game on Jan 10. I don't remember if it downloaded a patch or not the first time I played. I assume I would have gotten it though as I always accept them.

Well I suppose now that I know about this, Mad Monster Mansion will keep a sad play time of 4 hours. I checked even after the patch and no more notes :(

AAAAARRRR - I'm also stuck at 896 Notes and searched Click Clock Wood up and down.

Now I know why I can't find those last 4 notes.

Maaaaaaaaan - this needs to be fixed but considered for how long this game has been out on the arcade I guess it's very unlikely to get patched/updated ... bummer ~.~

yeah. problem was in the bottles puzzles, the notes collected in the puzzle vanished in game lol.

People at Click Clock Woods check on top of the club house up high in winter or whenever the fly ability is then fly back and forth until u get them. Can be very frustrating when i finally found them i threw my controller in the air i was so happy

Going from the guide it seems that the one's in the wasp hive are missing, I went in after doing the puzzles and nothing, downloaded game on 20-June-2011, please say it is fixed and I have to do something in an earlier season or something grrrrrr

Not sure if it was fixed. Double check you are there at the right season. If it's not there, you'll have to start over im afraid.

its 2012....and i still cant get all the music notes in Mad Monster Mansion.....I'm missing 8 so I have 91/100 and they dont spawn like they should on the 2nd floor room of the mansion in the room with the paintings

I'm glad I saw this warning, haven't started Bottle's puzzles and I'm missing 4 on Click Clock Wood. Really frustrating, they're not on top of the club house like another commenter mentioned. It's frustrating that the Wikia has all the note locations for every level except Click Clock Wood, and I didn't even need a guide for other levels, so when I do finally need one there isn't one -_-

Seems the 4 I was missing were in Mumbo's Hut in Autumn (inside, jump on the pole without a flame and they're on a ledge). If anyone else ever comes looking for 4 notes in Click Clock Wood, the other possibilities are on top of the wooden tree house thing in Winter and inside the bee hive in Autumn/Fall. APPARENTLY the 4 notes that can glitch if you do Bottle's puzzles first, on this level, are the ones in the hive in Autumn.

Despite the intimadating number, this achievement wasn't too hard. There are a few that may be in a hidden area or difficult to find places that I can see someone missing. Youtube has a lot of walkthroughs that should help.

For anyone missing the 4 notes due to the jigsaw glitch, I just want to say that going back and doing the jigsaws again will not work. I'm sitting at 896, and thought that maybe if I did the jigsaws again, let Banjo collect the last 4 again, that might make the achievement pop. And I hadn't seen anyone suggest that one way or another, so I wanted to try. It does not work, for the record.

Still not patched :/ also if anyone is wondering how it wasn't patched after over 20 years, it's because in the N64 version you didn't "collect" notes. Any note you collected would respawn after dying or exiting the level with your high score being saved.

Im so unbelievably upset that i didn't know about this before hand... i spent like 30 minutes looking for 4 notes in MMM now i know why.

if this happens to anyone else don't get discouraged from 100%, it took me about 3 hours to get back were I was. now I know that not short but its worth it in the end

This is not a solution so much as a warning to those playing the XBLA version for the first time as part of Rare Replay (like myself). The Bottles's Jigsaw Puzzle glitch spoken of in the above solution is still very much active in Rare Replay. So, either the patch from the XBLA version of the game that supposedly fixed the problem for future playthroughs was not packed in with the Rare Replay download, or there is some other problem. Either way, if you play the Bottles challenges prior to collecting all notes--even on the Rare Replay version--you do so at your own risk.

There are 100 notes in each of the game's levels, none in Spiral Mountain and none in Gruntilda's Lair. Once you have collected a note the game saves, so you can die or leave the level at any time without fear of having to collect anything over again.
