How to unlock the Pet Sitter achievement in Bastion - Definitive Guide

The pets you get in order are the Squirt, Steam Bull, Anklegator and a Pecker.
Each is picked up from an item in the word which if you don't find can be bought from lost and found.
Squirt- Ragged Hood "The Workmen Ward" Level
SteamBull - plush pyth "Pyth Orchard"
Anklegator - anklegator egg "Roathus Lagoon"
Pecker - pecker nest "Colford Cauldron"

You will need to acquire all of these before collecting the last Red Crystal as you run the risk that some of these creatures may die during the Ura attack

You need four mementos to get the pets. Those can be found in the areas or bought from Lost & Found later. It doesn't matter. When you get the memento, just go to the people and talk to them about it. Since you also need the other mementos for a Vigil, just buy all of them (or find). They doesn't cost much. Easy as that.

Important: Buy all the mementos before the Ura invasion. If you don't have all the pets at this part, there is a chance of missing the achievement. So just make sure you always buy new mementos after every mission.

The four "pets" in the game are found as collectibles in different levels of the story. If you miss any of them, they will show up in the Lost and Found for purchase, but I'd suggest trying to find them to save some fragments for other things. They are located as follows:

  • Squirt - find the Ragged Hood in Workmen Ward
  • Pith Bull - find the Plush Pith in Pyth Orchard
  • Anklegator - find the Anklegator Egg in Roathus Lagoon
  • Pecker - find the Pecker Nest in Colford Cauldron

Once you get a collectible (by finding or buying it), speak with Zia in the Bastion for the pet to actually show up in the Bastion to get credit.

Whereas some mementos will grant you access to arena battles in Who Knows Where, the other mementos will unlock creatures in the Bastion. There are four different possible creatures that you can obtain. They serve no purpose in the Bastion other than for aesthetics, but picking up all four will not only make the Bastion more lively, it'll also unlock you this trophy (which is what you're here for anyway).

They are as follows, from earliest possible encounter to latest:

  • Ragged Hood (found in Workmen Ward) - Squirt
  • Plush Pith (found in Pyth Orchard) - Mechanical Pith Bull
  • Anklegator Egg (found in Roathus Lagoon) - Anklegator
  • Pecker Nest (found in Colford Cauldron) - Pecker

As with all the other collectibles in the game, do not worry if you missed out in picking up one of the mementos. Anything you missed collecting in the levels will be made available in the Lost-and-Found, for a price of course, including the mementos.

Note that you'll need to talk to Zia for each of the mementos you've picked up before they will appear in the Bastion.

To get pets, you must get 4 different souvenirs and activate them from the residents of Bastion. You can get souvenirs at the locations described below; if you missed an item, then after passing the location you can buy it at the Lost and Found Bureau.
The first item, Ragged Hood, can be found in the Workmen Ward location. After returning to Bastion, talk to Stranger to activate the pet.
The second item is located at the Pyth Ochyard location - this is Plush Pyth. Bring the Zulf toy to Bastion and thereby activate the Bull.
The third item is the Anklegator Egg, it is located in the Roathus Lagoon location. Bring Zia's egg to Bastion, she will promise to keep an eye on the pet and activate it.
The fourth item is located in the Colford Cauldron location, it is not difficult to find, it is the Pecker Nest. Bring it to Zia in Bastion and activate it.
It is advisable to get all the pets before Ur's attack. Pets will help defend Bastion, and if this is not done before the attack, then there is a chance that you will not receive the achievement.

It's easier to buy than to search. I thought it would be difficult to collect them (because it is written in the hint for platinum that it is easy to miss) and ran around all the locations, looking into every corner and because of this I spent more time on the passage. In general, if you suddenly miss it, it’s no big deal. They are very cheap in the store.
