How to unlock the Freeflow Perfection achievement in Batman: Arkham Asylum - Definitive Guide

THIS IS THE WAY TO DO IT!!!!!!

Ok this is the basic breakdown

1. Use the batclaw to grab at least one guy and hit him, (RT x2)
2. Counter the guy that comes to attack you,
3. Cape Stun and hit the guy you stun,
4. Evade,
5. Throw (A+X)
6. Hit some dudes until you get your second special takedown,
7. Takedown (Y+B)
8. If you are safe press LT to throw your batarang which should knock 1-3 guys down to prepare for the last one,
9. Ground Pound (RT+Y)

That's it. You can easily come up with your own sequence but this worked for me. Check out this video below from acheivementhunter.com

Vid helped me visualize what I had to do. I decided to start with the batclaw, then the batarang, followed by the counter then just went from there.

Thanks for this. It was the last one I needed to finish the game off and got it a few days ago. Found it easier to get the stun and evade out of the way right after the batclaw at the start then work on the takedowns using counter to keep the combo going.

Try to mix up the sequence, find a flow that works for you if you find yourself vulnerable at a certain point again and again. Try it on easier levels where guys don't have knives ect. Good luck!

Here how it always goes.
I use the batclaw, I hit the guy, the combo disappears and then I get mauled because for some wierd ass reason hitting Y does not counter at all for me

A great many thanks to both you for posting this and Achievement Hunter. I wasted so much time trying to get this throughout the campaign. This is so much easier. The thing to getting this achievement is making sure you do not have too many guys but enough to keep moving. This happened to be perfect. +1

Map: "Sewer Rat"

I opened up a word document with this:

Batclaw (RT)
Attack (X)
Counter (Y)
Stun (B)
Evade (A)
Throw (A+X)
Takedown (B+Y)
Batrang (LT)
Groundpound (RT+Y)

Made the words bigger and bold the attacks I also paused the game and saw what I still needed; keep praticing and don't spam. Also I don't know what happened but Groundpound went into a cinamatic then stopped should of had the achievement first time. Also the batrang is a great tool for knocking them down then groundpounding them. Evade will keep your combo going so use this as well.

Thanks for this it helped me alittle with other soultions.

NOTE: This is assuming you have the upgrade that has your strikes do x2 and the upgrade that lets you do Throws and Combo Takedowns at x5 instead of x8.

I believe you need the Combo Batarang for this to work, other wise throwing a Batarang will cancel the combo.

Also, just to be clear, this must all take place in one combo. If your flow gets screwed up or you get hit you must start the combo - using all the moves - over again.

The best way I found to do this was:

1. Counter
2. Jump (vault over someone)
3. Cape Stun
4. Batarang
5. Strike(s) - enough to perform a...
6. Throw - try to aim at a few standing enemies so you can make room for a...
7. Ground Takedown
8. Get a few strikes/counters in for a Combo Takedown
9. Probably your last guy standing, use the Batclaw and you should unlock the achievement right when the Batclaw pulls the enemy toward you. Get at least one more hit in to be safe.

This was the best way I could have the right amount of guys standing in order to do certain moves without getting hit and without knocking them out too early. Hope it helps everyone.

small hint... you can keep jumping over people as much as you want without losing your combo... I would also recommend doing this on one of the extreme levels so theres a bunch of enemies...

also... you DO NOT need to get a perfect free flow at the end. jus need to keep trying till you get it.. so if you get hit, its okay, you just gotta start the combo again without restarting...

To stevivor: If I remember correctly, you only need to pull the left trigger once to throw your batarang(s). It's a quick pull and release though, don't hold the trigger. And for the Batclaw, just tap the right trigger twice very quickly. Make sure there is at least one person standing or the claw wont hit anything and your flow will be lost. Also, a bit obvious but I'll state it of anyone else reading, if you get hit while pulling someone with the claw it will break your flow.

I did this on Sewer Bat on the first wave with four enemies since they are just basic thugs.

I wait until one charges you then:

Counter, Strike, Evade over an enemy, Stun nearest enemy, Quick Triple Batarang, Ground Takedown, Strike, Throw, Strike until you can use the takedown, Combo Takedown, Batclaw, Strikes.

It's far easier to do this with four enemies as that is the minimum I've found you can do this in without having to constantly be countering charging enemies or worry about being hit while doing a Ground Takedown. You can easily manipulate enemies to where you need them. Obviously you have to get through all the moves quickly with only four enemies to work with, but it's a fair trade-off for not being overwhelmed and frustrated.

You don't need to do it in the exact order obviously, I just found success with that order numerous times. I think the more important thing is only having the four enemies to contend with. I was just able to do it numerous times with that order of the moves, certainly not the only combo that can do it.

Video owned by me, SecondHeartbeat.

Sewer Bat Extreme - 1st Wave of Enemies
I eliminated a couple of enemies before going for the Freeflow Perfection to make it easier on me. I suggest you do the same, or it could get extremely frustrating. Don't take too many down though, otherwise you won't have enough to complete the sequence.

Sequence -
1) Counter
2) Strike
3) Evade
4) Cape Stun
5) Combo Baterang
(Counter)
6) Ground Takedown
7) Throw
(Strike x2)
8) Combo Takedown
9) Batclaw

Tip - When you go for the Combo Baterang, aim for a group of 3 enemies to knock down. This will give you the best possible chance of safely getting in your ground takedown.

Note - Achievement doesn't pop in the video because I unlocked it prior to making the video.

read all the solutions above so you can read what to do for the achievement. this solution is mainly for those that are confused about the A+X (throw) and the Y+B (instant takedown) ill clear it up. once you've bought the upgrades, you can perform either of these combos on an enemy. every 8 (5 with upgrade) regular attacks (X or Y) your combo counter will turn yellow. this means that you can perform either of these combos.

you can do so by holding either A+X or Y+B at the same time and use the LS to indicate which enemy you want to throw/instant takedown. you'll be invunrable for a little period of time so it is also a handy trick to get some of the harder combat challenges done

it might take a little bit of pratice, so i'd suggest playing the first round of the first extreme combat challenge over and over until you get a perfect combo.

if this helped you, please give this solution a thumb up so others will notice it easier. if you dont like it, please leave a comment about anything being unclear.

You can do this in any combat challenge or any area in the story where there's a fairly large number of bad guys. It's much easier if you use one of the challenges however, as if you screw it up you can just restart.

Personally, I found that I got to the point where I now can do this 90% of the time on Shock & Awe Extreme, round 1. You pretty well have to do this on that level if you hope to get the 30K for the 3 medals, as pulling off a perfect freeflow combo is an extra 5000 points.

Obviously as well this will be easier once you have all the combat related upgrades (in fact some like the B+Y takedown are required).

What I would do:

- when the wave starts, immediately hit your batclaw.
- Get two strikes (X button) on one of the guys you clawed.
- As you're doing this another of the bad guys will charge in, once you see the indicator above his head, hit counter (Y button)
- Immediately after the counter get 1 more strike in against one of the guys who DOES NOT have a knife. After this hit, you should have a x5 combo and be ready for a takedown
- Immediately do the B+Y takedown on one of the red guys with the knives
- Right after this, do the cape swing (B button) on the other red guy with the knife
- Do a single x strike against that same guy, then do a quick batarang (LT) behind you at the group who you previously knocked over with the batclaw
- Do an evade on one of the guys, then just keep repeating the evade, strike, evade, strike routine until your combo meter is flashing again. Once it is, do the A+X throw takedown. The only real gotcha here is to avoid that other guy with the knife.
- Now all that's left is the RT+Y ground pound. Keep the combo going until there's only 2-3 guys left, throw your batarang at them, do an evade towards the guys on the ground and then do the RT+Y as they should now be on the ground from the batarang.

If you can perfect this routine, you are well on your way to being able to get 3 medals on all the combat challenges.

The way I got this was to break it up into a few sections so you don't overthink your combo. Easily the best and quickest place to try this is on the first round of Intensive Treatment (Extreme), since you start out with plenty of thugs and can restart quickly. Make sure to watch your back, don't button mash and take it slow.

1. Bathook from the beginning and make sure to punch one of the hooked thugs. Punch, counter and stun until you build up a 5x combo for a throw.
2. Immediately throw someone (Batman will swiftly move to the nearest enemy automatically), then punch and counter again until you build up a 10x combo for a takedown. Even if it says "X + A to Throw", you can do a takedown, so don't let the on-screen pop-up throw you off.
3. Immediately takedown (Again, Batman will find a target on his own), then dodge an enemy, throw 1 batarang at an enemy, then immediately ground takedown them.

Notes: Dodging twice in a row will void a combo, as will throwing 3 batarangs or punching mid-air. It can get frustrating with the combat system, and you might require some luck for the final ground takedown, but have some patience and it will come in time. It's also worth considering that changing your combo up will drastically increase your round score, so consider this a learning experience for the combat challenges too.

"Freeflow Perfection" Achievement
Before attempting this Achievement you should have Batman fully upgraded with all combo-based upgrades etc. You can do this fairly easily in the later rounds of the first Challenge, Intensive Treatment. You'll need to perform the following moves in a single combo (don't get hit, or blocked or let the combo counter run out) to get the Achievement. NOTE: You can Evade as many times as you want to keep your combo going!

Quick Batarang (may NOT be necessary)
Quick Batclaw (may NOT be necessary)
Punch
Stun
Evade
Counter
Throw
Instant Takedown
Ground Takedown
Begin with the Batclaw and follow it with a Batarang -- these may not be necessary but you may as well throw them in since they won't hinder you at all. After using the first few moves listed after those, plus a couple of Punches to get your combo meter above 5x, you can perform a Throw. Don't let him hit anyone else or you may leave yourself without any opponents to continue the combo.

Punch a bit more and Evade as needed, then use the Instant Takedown when its available. Before using a Ground Takedown to complete this combo, use some Batarangs to stun anyone else nearby -- if it's all clear, go for the Ground Takedown to complete the "perfect" combo!

To get this trophy you need to do all nine combat moves Batman can execute in one long combo. These are:

1. punch (cn_S)
2. conter (cn_T)
3. cape stun (cn_O)
4. bat claw (double tap cn_R2)
5. batarang (tap cn_L1)
6. evade (double tap cn_X)
7. ground pound (cn_R2 + cn_T)
8. throw (cn_X + cn_S)
9. takedown (cn_O + cn_T)

You can do it, after you got the bat claw in the story mode, but I would recommend that you get all of the fighting upgrades and you need to unlock the combo batarang upgrade.

I suggest that you start with the batclaw and punch the grappled guy or counter, if another punk is charging at you. The ground pound can easily be done after you threw a thug. Just be sure to toss him in an empty corner or, even better, on some other guys.

And as always, don't get frustrated and try again. You will get the hang of it. headspin

This is one of the harder achievements, this may be easier in the challenge modes where you can practice and take on various amounts of enemies. You may find the visitor center the easiest spot in story mode to earn this as none of the enemies will have weapons before you face The Joker.

Some of these will require you to upgrade Batman's combo skills, earn XP from killing enemies or finding/solving the Riddler challenges.

Basic Combo:
- Strike
- Counter
Tap Twice - Evade
Tap Once - Quick Batarang
Tap Twice - Quick Batclaw

Upgraded Combo:
- Stun
+ - Ground Takedown
+ - Throw
+ - Takedown

Huh shock

I went with, at the start:
1. batarang (LTx2), then immediatly batclaw (RTx2)
2. counter (Y), then immediatly evade (Ax2) and stun (B)
...now hit them until combo x5
3. grab (X+A)
...hit them until x10
4. takedown (Y+B), then make some space with hiting them and finish it off with a ground move (RT+Y)

Note: Before attempting this trophy you will need a few upgrades and gadgets unlocked first:

  • Throw Upgrade needs to be unlocked
  • Takedown Upgrade needs to be unlocked
  • Batarang Combo needs to be unlocked (allows Batarangs to be part of your combo)
  • Batclaw Gadget must be unlocked (from the progress in the story)
  • Combo meter upgraded from 8 hits to 5 hits (not needed, but makes it easier)

There are 9 moves that must be performed in one combo:

  • Strike: () Punches or kicks enemies.
  • Counter: () Counter an attacking enemy to prevent them from hitting you.
  • Stun: () Flap your cape in front of enemies to stun them (especially knife wielders)
  • Evade: Double tap () and push in the direction to jump over an enemy.
  • Takedown: ( + ) Can only be executed if combo meter is yellow. (x5 with upgrade or x8 without)
  • Throw: ( + ) Can only be executed if combo meter is yellow. (x5 with upgrade or x8 without)
  • Ground Pound: ( + ) Can only be done to enemies lying on the ground.
  • BatClaw: ( x 2) Will grab and pull an enemy (3 enemies with upgrade) towards you.
  • Batarang: () Throws Batarang (3 with upgrade) at enemies.

Note: If you get hit before doing all 9 moves, then you need to start over and still do all 9 moves. However, if you do all 9 moves and then get hit, you will still get the trophy. Here is a video to show a possible perfect combo.

I opened this trophy in the last battle with the Joker, when the bandits jump into the arena, we just follow the steps from the tips above, just there no one will bother you and there are more than enough enemies.
