How to unlock the 50x Combo achievement in Batman Arkham City - Definitive Guide

Credit goes to PowerPyx for the guide.

This is a simple guide to get the 50 combo moves fast and easy.
You can easily do this during the combat challenges. The second one, called Survival of the Fittest works perfect. Play until you reach round 4 to make sure that you are surrounded by enough enemies. Simply jump over one of the enemies and land one hit. Repeat the process of jumping and attacking and you will be done after 2 minutes.

I found the easiest place to get this achievement was in the 3rd challenge map, Rooftop Rumble. Make sure you have unlocked the critical strike upgrade to make this easier to unlock.

First off, it's very clear that you need to get a combo of 50x
Then get the "Critical Strikes" gadget , it gives you 2x if you use it correctly (just be patient).

I don't want to give any spoiler, so I'll be a little evasive sometimes :P

- For me, the best type of fight to get this during the game is when you face the big guys with hammers AND some thugs.

- Make the hammer guy dizzy and start the sequence. It won't kill it and you have 2 options: someone will approach OR the guy will try to hammer you.

- In both options, just press 2xA (jump over)

- If you come back to the guy, make him dizzy and strike him again, you'll probably get the achievement right there

***************IT MAY BE A SPOILER*******************
The train scene is perfect for that.

While I happened to get it by accident, this was the way I got the achievement. I got it from the last one armed hammer man fight in the game.

What happened was I was I had been using the AoE freeze grenades as crowd control and left the big guy and a few stragglers loose. Went in and hit the big guy a bunch, got to about 30ish, had a random thug come in to hit me and I countered, then I somehow got to go back to hitting the big guy immediately without him swinging his hammer down on me and got up to 46 with the hit that knocked him out completely. From there I went right from him to get the last 4 hits in on guys still trying to thaw their feet out. Achievement popped and my jaw dropped, lol.

It was in new game + and it was completely unplanned (I had a hard time with that fight for some reason, I was there for a while trying to get through even after I got the achievement to pop), but it was a VERY happy accident.

I got mine during the campaign on Hard, while I was fighting The Mad Hatter (sidemission). This place is the best because:

1) Unlimited spawn of baddies.
2) There are many baddies at once.

Just be sure you have the Critical Hit upgrade and the Freeflow upgrade (it will slowdown time). Also, if you accidentally hit Mad Hatter 3 times, just restart from checkpoint.

I got to a combo of 80 till I was satisfied. It's a fast and easy method, unlike the others in my opinion.

**Possible Spoilers**

First off, I want to note that Critical Strikes, which increase your multiplier by 2, and the special combo Bat Swarm make this achievement incredibly easy. The Critical Strikes allow you to reach x50 faster, and the Bat Swarm (available at a x8 combo) will stun all nearby enemies without dropping your multiplier. Also, you can use the Bat Swarm multiple times in the same combo. Both of these upgrades are available fairly early in the game.

The easiest place I found to get this achievement was during the Mad Hatter sequence, which is started through a side-quest. You'll receive a transmission from Alfred after saving Vicki Vale, and a waypoint will appear on your map to obtain a cure for your sickness.

A little ways into the Mad Hatter sequence, you will be pitted against a bunch of unarmed enemies, which helps tremendously; you don't have to worry about taking out shielded enemies or dodging knives, and can freely attack any bad guy. Mad Hatter also makes appearances periodically. To end the sequence, all you have to do is hit him 3 times. To get the achievement, however, you can just keep attacking the enemies until you get a x50 combo.

By having the Critical Strike and Bat Swarm upgrades, attempting this achievement is a breeze on Mad Hatter's goons. Good luck

Rather accidentally I got this during the Extreme version of Penguin's "Gladiator Pit". During this, two of the rounds have a Lieutenant (one of the Russian Twins). During a combo, I stunned him, and began a beat down, stopping for counters whenever needed.

Unfortunately, this doesn't have the same effect on the Titan Henchmen.

I did this on New Game + in the Penguin pit on the first round of enemies. Killed a couple first, then would hit one and jump backwards in the opposite direction to the group, aim back at the group and hit once, batman does a massive leap/kick move and just back away from the group. I repeated this and got it on my 2nd try!

Jumping away gave me the extra space so that I didn't risk getting hit or something thrown at me.

Another easy way getting this is when you are finishing up the side quest called THE CURE, you will be fighting multiple enemies and they will keep coming unless you hit the enemy leader ( I won't spoil it), when the battle was finished, I had a combo of 67x

It's really easy because of the limited space that you are fighting in, this solution is for those such as myself that want to finish the single player campaign first before doing the challenges.

Thanks to Comando Doom for reminding me that you should buy that critical hit combat upgrade so that each critical hit that lands adds 2x to your chain combo.

The above solutions are excellent, but I'm not the type to do that stuff.

Just do Survival of the Fittest challenge map. I personally got it in the third wave, but I'm not sure how good you guys are, so just attempt it in the fourth wave. I easily got to 50x multiplier. Just follow these tips:

1. DON"T GET TOO COCKY!!! You can't outpunch an enemy. You're better off by just countering when you see the prompt.

2. Try to do the ring technique (how I got it). It consists of getting a 12x multiplier. Then, go for the outside enemies going in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion around the mass of enemies. You will less likely get punched this way. Once the ring is broken, go for the mass of enemies and beat away.

3. Start off with a slide. Why? Because you automatically get a 2x combo if you hit one enemy.

4. Avoid using gadgets. They may be fancy, but they take too long to execute and you will more than likely get punched this way.

That would be it. Good luck.

First off let me say that I am not that great at the combos and counters involved in the fighting, and I can usually only get a string of 30 before something stops it. This was by far a lot easier than taking on any large group of baddies.

A combination of quick evasive manoeuvres and countering is needed for this trophy. Any combat encounter with a large enough amount of enemies will work for this trophy. You can also do it in the challenge maps, and with any character.

One method of earning this trophy is to use the cape stun (), then beat up the stunned enemy by mashing . The combo counter will build incredibly quickly, especially on hard difficulty and New Game Plus. Be sure to counter with as enemies approach you. If you keep mashing after this, you will continue your beat down against the enemy you stunned.

The trophy will unlock as soon as you hit a x50 combo multiplier. PowerPyx has made a video demonstrating this:

This achievement can be done at many different times throughout the game but is easiest done during a sequence like the one in the video below. It is best to get the FreeFlow Focus Combat upgrade to increase movement speed and reaction times as well as the Critical Strikes upgrade that increases the combo by x2 for each successful hit.
