How to unlock the Aggravated Assault achievement in Batman Arkham City - Definitive Guide

Below is a video made by BatmanArkhamVideos that shows all of the assault locations. Using the locations from the video I created a map that shows each of the 16 assault locations via an orange dot.

External image

After visiting all the locations, if some assaults did not appear (All will not appear in one fly though the city) then enter then exit a building to refresh the map.

It is also suggested that when you are looking for assault to fly around in detective mode. In my experience it seemed to make the assaults more likely to appear.

Can't recommend this solution more highly. I had two assaults left to do and couldn't get them to activate. I simply, following this solution, walked in and out some doors (entered and exited some buildings) and they instantly activated for me to complete.

Thanks Kirblinx. Great solution.

im stuck on 90%, can not find the last assualt. visited every spot on the map a couple times. I did what was suggested (going in and out of buildings, flying around in detective mode even saved and quit a couple times) nothing seems to activate it. Any other suggestions would be greatly apprieciated

Not sure where it could be Cash Rob. No one else seems to have had any trouble. If you do find where that last one is, give another comment and I will add it to the guide.

Is this missable? Cuz there were a couple of assualts I didn't get to in time and I'm wondering if I'll be abloe to get back to them after finishing the main story.

No, I am pretty sure this isn't missable, as I did this after the main story. I am pretty sure I missed a couple as well during my playthrough of the main story. Also most people who do this do it in their new game + playthrough.

Your map helped so much, I just went to each location, one by one, after the 6th one, it popped. Sweet.

Stone cold syx it still works after the game is finished, that's how I did it on both playthroughs recently. Just follow that map and fly around to each othe spots one after the other. When you've checked all of them, enter/exit a building and the map should be reset. It might work more reliably if you actually quit and re-enter the game after exiting the building.

This is also helpful, just after getting the batsuit go to the left of the courthouse you'll hear Jack Ryder getting attacked, not sure if this is already on the map but it's something that players tend to forget as he is what starts the quest anyway.

Assaults in Arkham City are defined by a political prisoner (innocent person) being accosted by an inmate. It'll usually be a guy in an orange jumpsuit beating on a guy in a parka. The best way to come across these is to keep your ears perked up for some guy yelling at somebody who is very scared of them OR just random sounds of someone getting beat up.

These are very easy because you only have to fight one guy and he's never armed nor does he have any armor. In fact, you can pretty much always do a silent takedown if you sneak up from behind, but you really don't have to since the guy is so easy to beat.

You'll find these assaults in areas with lots of alleyways like the Industrial District, Park Row, and the Bowery. They will pop up randomly so there's not much sense in actively seeking them out. Just do them while you're completing the millions of other things there are to do.

If you happen to pass by an assault without realizing it, an objective marker will usually show up on your map for a certain amount of time if you happen to fly right over it. The objective marker is blank.

You can keep track of your progress by going to the map and hitting X for Side Missions. It'll be under "Arkham Assault" and will show you what percentage of them you have completed. The achievement will pop immediately after you get the last one.

FYI - You don't really get anything for these missions except XP and a grateful civilian.

I got this achievement after finishing the main game and nearly every other side mission while i was rounding up the last 20 or so Riddler Trophies.

When I was doing this again in New Game Plus, I had already finished the trophies so I had less reason to run around. That being said, A couple of the assaults wouldn't pop until after I had re-explored certain areas and beaten up leftover henchmen. The best example would be the museum. There are a couple of baddies left in there (make sure you check the War Room). Once I did that and left the museum, the last assault came up right around the corner to my right.

If you have any info or suggestions that may improve this solution, please comment below. Thanks!

I'm stuck on 90% done with this side mission, and I haven't seen an assault in forever! Any tips on how exactly to force their spawn?

It sounds like you only have one assault left. For me, it came up right after I went into the museum and cleared everyone out after the end of the game. If you have already done this, I'd suggest going into a few other buildings and seeing if there are any other henchmen to clear out, like in Joker's hideout. New enemies spawn after the final boss so they can be easy to miss if you don't explore.

can you not get this achievement after the main campaign has ended or do you need to restart in the + mode to get it?

I was missing several and this video helped immensly. Just go to all the spots shown on the map, and if there isn't one exactly there, chances are one will activate while you're close by. Its how I found the ones I was missing.

Edit: I only had to use this during New Game +, they showed up just fine when I played through the first game.

One of the side missions involves beating up thugs who are bullying political prisoners in Arkham City. These are unmarked on the map and only appear when you get close in proximity to them. Once they are triggered, you will see and hear a “Local Surveillance” notification on-screen, with an audio clip of the thug and the prisoner. That side mission will then appear on the map as a pulsing white hexagon.

There are sixteen of these total. Most are in The Bowery and Park Row, with some being in Industrial District. None are in Amusement Mile. One of these is Jack Ryder, who is being beaten up before the Courthouse sequence. If you do not rescue him, a generic political prisoner will replace him in a different location.

The easiest way to find them is to use Detective Mode (, on PS3) to clearly see them through walls. Refer to the map below for their locations, marked in Yellow. Jack Ryder is marked with “JR”, while his replacement is marked with “Rp.”

Ever vigilant, stop all 16 random crimes in Arkham City (Arkham Assault). A crime is taking place when you are picking up hostile chatter in the Local Surveillance feed. Use detective mode to track who is talking, then knock out the henchman to free the Political Prisoner. The map will sometimes display a pulsing hexagon in the location of a crime even when you're not close enough to hear the chatter, so check your map often.
