How to unlock the AR Knight achievement in Batman Arkham City - Definitive Guide

I made a video showing all 8 AR missions and their locations with commentary to offer tips. The prompt for the first mission is roughly 30 min - 1 hour into the campaign after your first interaction with the Joker. Hope this helps everyone.

It is highly recommended that you do at least the first 4 of these as soon as you are initially prompted to do so in the game as the reward will greatly help you in the later missions in the game.

Just wanted to mention for advanced mission one, you're able to dive bomb, come out a bit, then dive bomb again. I saw it in IGN's video and it made it way easier for me at least. Got it first try, when I had been stuck for a long time. Great vids and tips though!

is there a trick to completing the first advanced AR mission, the one near the Steel Mill, I try to hold the dive bomb until the last second, but I either hit the entrance to the tunnel or run out of speed in the tunnel. thanks to the video I've gotten the others but this one.

I was stuck on the the first AR for quite awhile. I found what I was doing was pulling back way too hard coming out of the dive which makes you pull up and hit the top of the doorway. If you just pull back a little bit and use very slow controlled movements with the thumbstick, you'll come in at the right level. Once inside however keep centered as there are a few things that stick out of the wall that will stop your glide.

WOW, I was getting really frustrated with the fifth AR. But I did the others with no videos. But when I saw the video for the fifth AR and hear Flip tips about pulling and slowly release the dive bomb trigger. Then watch the video. I finally got it. Thanks Fliptriq..

@Redback22 Glad I was able to help you out. Grats on unlocking the achievement.

As for unlocking the AR missions I don't know how you can do it. A lot of people have asked me about it but I havent heard of anyone being able to trigger it. I bet that can be really annoying and I wish I knew how to fix it.

Okay, finally got them all. Thanks for the guide though, the way you did the first advanced training one as well as the second and third really helped me out. Wound up using a different method for the last one though

This is not an easy achievement but it has a TA ratio of 1.74 because it's from a time when players really stuck with a game for the long haul. If this exact achievement were in a game from the last 5 years, the ratio would be 3.00+. EDIT: OK, more like 2.50.

I wouldn't exactly agree with the idea of the achievement being a 3.0 if it were made recently. The Xbox One edition (2016) has this achievement at a 1.96 ratio. While I agree ratio is more deflated on the 360 as a whole, you don't see a crazy different between a 360 and an XB1 version of a triple a game.

Great game just a shame that this crap was added to it......spoiled the whole game for me .You must have to be some kind of super computer or the luckiest bastard walking the face of the earth to get these things!!

After getting stuck on AR Training 3 (for about 45 minutes) I found this text on the internet and got it first time "While still holding A, press and hold RT to dive bomb. After picking up some speed, release RT (still holding A) and pull back on the analog stick. This will cause you to swoop upwards a bit, while continuing your glide"

3.00+ is an exaggeration but the 360 version vs. the One version isn't a clean comparison. I think it's safe to say that when an One version of a game comes out that had already been released on the 360, TA members that already played the earlier version have an inclination to replay it to double up on the GS. I reviewed 10 members (5 recent and 5 of the first) that have the One version of 'AR Knight' and 7 already had unlocked it in the 360 version, 2 had at least played a good bit of that game, and 1 had played the One version only.
What I had in mind are more recent achievements like the collectible ones in Halo Infinite (I think of 'AR Knight' as a collectible/skill challenge) or even that game's 'Make a Little More Noise' (TA ratio 2.77) which requires the player just to step back into the armory and select a heavier weapon during the Tutorial. Seems like members are not going off the main story path nearly as much as they used to.

For a long time I struggled with the first advanced training. Never glided to go through that hole perfectly. Finally I started searching for a video with tips. Fliptriq video is very good. But I finally found video guide from Game Front. After watching it, I did the first Advanced in 2 tries. Easy peasy.

I hope it'll help.

This commentary about gliding into the tunnels and not using the toggle to pull up too soon was the key to success. I did all the advanced AR's in 5 min after watching this.

The tip to not pull back on the left stick made this a lot easier, thanks!
This is the best solution for this achievement as far as i am concerned.

Thanks, the first adavanced AR training was the last thing I needed to do to 100% the Original Story. I can confirm that the technique in this video does indeed work. It still took me more than two tries, but it can be done.

Those green rings are obviously positioned at the exact point you need to do something:
Start by jumping to your left, then glide to line ring 1 up with ring 2
Ring 1 - by the time you pass through ring 1 you shouldn't need to touch the stick
Ring 2 - hold RT to dive through ring 2
Ring 3 - release RT at the exact instant you pass through ring 3 and don't touch the stick
Ring 4 and Ring 5 - if you got the first 3 right, you shouldn't need to touch the controls to glide to the finish

I wonder how my crazy methods for getting through all the other AR training differed from how it should have been done by using the green rings as markers.

Now, if I can 100% Riddler's Revenge I will go back and re-do all the AR training in Story + for the Perfect Knight achievement.

Managed to do all but 1 of the AR Training Missions, I was stuck on Advanced AR1 (Steel Mill). Alas, after the best part of 14 months, finally done it thanks to a cracking Video Guide. Took me 3 attempts to finally nail it after watching said video, it's all about releasing the Dive Button and then adjusting Batman when you go through the tunnel.

Skip to 4:10 for Advanced AR1, I take no credit for the video, that's down to BatmanArkhamVideos.

Side mission – A.R. Training.

In order to unlock this trophy, you will have to complete both basic and advanced training programs. There are at 4 of them for you to complete per training program and they consist of you flying through hoops on various courses. Do keep in mind some may take several retries to complete. Once completed, you shall unlock the Grapnel Boost which is very useful for traveling around the open world map, so it is advised to get this side mission done as soon as possible once it becomes available

Complete all eight AR Training exercises to unlock the achievement. The first four unlock on your way to the Steel Mill for the first time, and completing them unlocks the grapnel boost upgrade which allows you to glide indefinitely by grappling from building to building without ever touching the ground. The trick to the advanced exercises is to time your dives properly. Stopping the dive early by letting go of the trigger and barely pulling back helps make it through the tight corridors. The video below contains all the exercises.
