How to unlock the Perfect Knight - Day 2 achievement in Batman Arkham City - Definitive Guide

Spoiler free :) To get the Perfect Knight - Day 2 achievement, you'll need to have done the following:

*Beat the main game on either NORMAL or HARD. You cannot unlock New Game Plus on Easy so I don't think you can even get this achievement. Beating the main game shouldn't be a problem, even on Hard. you'll have beaten the story when you get the Exit Stage Right achievement.
Batman: Arkham CityExit Stage RightThe Exit Stage Right achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 61 pointsAll the world is a stage

*Now that we have beaten the main story, we have unlocked a mode called New Game Plus (NG+) this is a game mode where you'll restart the story and in which you'll need to beat it again. still, this should not bring too many pain-in-the-ass moments. once you've beaten NG+ you will get the Twice Nightly achievement.
Batman: Arkham CityTwice NightlyThe Twice Nightly achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 233 pointsComplete New Game Plus

*Side missions. There's a lot of confusion about these. That has a good reason thus I will split it up in three parts.

The straight forward ones. These are the regular side-missions, which include AR-training, the detective missions, etc.. You will get an achievement for everyone you beat and you WILL need to beat every single side mission on NG+ as well
Batman: Arkham CityAR KnightThe AR Knight achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 44 pointsComplete all augmented reality training exercises

The Riddler's collectibles, upgrades, art concepts and character trophies. You will need to collect all Riddler trophies in EITHER regular game or NG+. but these DO carry over, so that's some good news. every riddle or trophie only needs to be collected once. After having collected enough trophies, one of the Riddler's hostages' locations will be shown to complete. you DO need to save every hostage one both regular game and NG+. during your search for these collectibles you'll get enough XP to get all your upgrades, every story, art concept, character trophies, you name it. you will get the Genius achievement after saving all hostages.

EDIT 19-01-12:
Credit goes to NinjaDave04 for confirming this. You will also have to complete all the physical challenges (found on the same menu as The Riddler's trophies. these were not too hard for me even after beating the main story. If you have a question about a physical challenge, just leave a comment.
Batman: Arkham CityGeniusCompletedJeroenThe Genius achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 117 pointsRescue all the hostages from Riddler

Batman: Arkham CityFully LoadedThe Fully Loaded achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 18 pointsCollect all of Batman's gadgets and upgrades

the most irritating things in this game I found to be were the random acts of violence side missions. these are random events, where a political prisoner is attacked by a thug and you will need to fullfill your task as the Dark Knight and save him. the annoying thing is that you, obviously, have to complete all 16 events twice (in regular game and NG+) you will find most of them during your hunt for riddles, but i ran out of things to do in NG+ and I was left with only these things to do. a proper and not-so-boring way to complete them is to fly around the city, complete a event, save and go back to the main menu. then load up your game again and you'll find it much easier to find all these events. repeat until you're done. i completed 2 events in 30 minutes without this technique, and 6 in 12 minutes with.
Batman: Arkham CityAggravated AssaultThe Aggravated Assault achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 18 pointsStop all assaults in Arkham City

*Ranked Challenges. these are the regular Predator and Combat challenges you'll be familiar with if you played Batman: Arkham Asylum. they made the combat challenges a little easier, as it's not as hard to get the high combos, which are the key to getting a lot of points. but the Predator challenges are a lot harder this time. Luckily you are on Trueachievements right now and someone's posted some excellent videos of how to beat both Predator and Combat challenges. you will find them in the link of the Gold Revenge achievement
Batman: Arkham CityGold RevengeThe Gold Revenge achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 178 pointsObtain all 72 medals on the original Arkham City ranked maps (as Batman)

*Campaign Challenges. these are new in the series. the name "campaign" is false. campaign is just three ranked challenges with choseable modifiers, that will either make your life easier or harder. i once again refer to the amazing videos that you will find in the link of the Gold Revenge achievement. you get 3 retries in one campaign challenge, so i would reccommend getting used to the challenges first in ranked, before going for the Campaign Gold achievement.
Batman: Arkham CityCampaign GoldThe Campaign Gold achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 206 pointsObtain all 108 medals on the original Arkham City campaigns (as Batman)

If you did everything above, you should get the achievement. If you don't know what you missed, you can always go to the tracker list in the main menu that tells you exactly what you still need to do.

If you liked my solution, please give it a thumb up. It'll let me know if I'm helping people. If you didnt, leave a comment why.

I just want to know. Do you have to complete the Riddlers Challege (Combat -Predator) before you do NG+? It's one thing to start over in the side mission but this got to be more ridiculous.

dont worry! if you have completed any Riddler's Revenge challenge as batman, you'll never have to do it again for this achievement (except for the Campaign Challenges, which contain 3 Riddler's Revenge challenges) NG+ has nothing to do with the Riddler's Revenge

for the stunned enemy, you'll have to stun enemies, do the AA move, but upon hitting him press X and push your LS to the direction of the other enemy and you will perform this move. for the glide boost, find an edge with two enemies, glide towards it, use the boost and i think press Y... i randomly got it

just for a note: i had the xatwoman dlc right from the start and i can safely say that there's no need for deletion

for the assaults not spawning i would recommend going to the main menu and then looking for the assaults to save yourself some time. i got my last five in no time

Do you HAVE to do the physical challenges too? Or just get the trophies??
0
0
By NinjaDave04 on 13 Jan 2012 19:22
@Rollamite yes, you do. you'll need to have completed every main and side mission in your first playthrough, and then again in NG+. the only thing apart from this is collecting the riddler trophies. every riddle you collect counts for both save files. you will need to save all the hostages twice, which shouldnt be a problem.

if your 1st playthrough game file is somehow f'd, you can always start a new game file, starting with 0% again

I know the Riddler trophies carry over between your first game and new game +, but what about the physical challenges you have to do like "the glide 5 m. over water.." and "take out someone with this..." Do you have t do those both run throughs?
0
0
By SFDATX on 27 Jun 2012 19:39
So you need to do all the hostages on Normal/Hard before you do NG+? That means you need to collect 400 trophies before starting NG+...?

By Kamera on 15 Jul 2012 01:21
+ for being spoiler free
+ for a compact list of what's needed

But while the above is kinda obvious (just 100% again with riddles and trophies being carried over). I REALLY expected many of the physical challenges to be explained here.
I have most of the gadgets now and still don't know what some of them require and where good opportunities can be found to pull them off!

Sorry, but unless they'll be included you get my thumbs down! ("ask for specific physical challenges if needed" is not what I expect to be part of a solution).

I've given a thumbs up. I would expect physical challenge description to be included in a walkthrough, which this guide would be a very good starting point for, but you can't just detail every physical challenge, riddle, collectible, balloon, door knocker and kitchen sink in a guide... this is a list to tell you what is missing, what is bugged about the achievement, and what works well for it. If anything, I'd expect to find the physical challenges on the Genius achievement, as that also requires them, and is a sub-requirement. Have you given the Genius solutions a thumbs down too?

Finish on a positive, thanks for the great guide here :)

I'm thinking you need to do it on regular/hard before starting new game plus. Idk why the author is saying you can carry it over when it seems like that won't help for Perfect Knight Day 2.

By Kamera on 21 Jul 2012 00:40
@pezza888 @STLfan2468, ALL of the trophies, riddles, physical challenges carry over from new game to new game+. I did all the Riddler hostage missions on my first playthrough (and for some reason catwoman trophies also count towards the 400) so I had about 3 Batman trophies that i needed to collect once I started NG+. You will need to do all of the hostage missions again but like I said, you'll have all the riddles solved so no problem

The question i have and cannot seem to find an answer to is if I complete the main story (normal/hard) and I have not completed the side missions, can I go back in as batman and finish what I have missed or is there a point in the main story line I need to stop at and complete the side whatevers? Cheers on the guide, thumbs up.

By ShutTheCakeHole on 27 Aug 2012 17:03
Got my answer and it is for those who may have the same question:

Yes, you can go back in after it is all said and done (main story - normal/hard) and get all the side pieces missed during regular play through. I have not done this yet, but I will hopefully confirm this tonight (8/27/2012).

By ShutTheCakeHole on 27 Aug 2012 17:25
Does starting NG+ affect the difficulty of Riddler's revenge? Or is Riddler's revenge always the same difficulty? I'm having a hard time on Normal as it is and I don't want to crank it up.
0
0
By RRIKER on 07 Sep 2012 14:43
Riddler's Revenge is separate from the story, both normal and NG+. You unlock more challenges in Riddler's Revenge as you progress and solve riddles but the difficulty does not change.
0
0
By Epsilon Theta on 07 Sep 2012 16:04
very good solution. you should add whether one can choose a new difficulty on NG+ or if one has played through the game on hard, one has to play NG+ on hard, too. oh, and could someone tell me when i unlock the red area in the center of the map?
0
0
By Rheinadler on 24 Sep 2012 09:37
The difficulty is up to you and does not affect the game or achievements in any way. The reason why these achievements (for completing NG+ and this one) carry the Difficulty Specific flag is that, in order to unlock NG+, you must play at least on normal difficulty.

What do you mean with the red area? Wonder Tower?

By Epsilon Theta on 24 Sep 2012 09:54
So how the hell do you track physical challenges on ng+? You just have to take the game at its word because it still says they are all completed on my new game+. Oh we'll almost ready to get all the side missions and main completed and will just go for them I guess...

Okay never mind. I had all of the physical challenges completed from my first run through and the achievement popped for me as soon as I finished my last side mission which oddly enough was the identity thief. So there is no need to complete the physical challenges twice.

When I got the 40 catwoman trophies and when I got 400 in total (360 with batman + 40 with catwoman) do I still have to collect the other trophies? I already defeated Riddler but I am not sure about the other trophies.

By DriZzT1987 on 14 Jul 2013 19:53
I'd love an answer to that as well DriZzT1987. I used the catwoman trophies to make the riddler hostage missions unlock sooner. As a result I have some batman trophies remaining. Will I have to clean those up or will the catwoman ones give me some wiggle room for this achievement as well?

I'm having trouble finding the last 2 assaults in NG+. I've completed all riddler challenges and collectibles, completed all other side missions in both regular story mode and NG+, I've already completed all assaults in regular story mode. I'm only missing the last 2 in NG+ and I've been spending hours flying from the museum to the steel mill and back in the hopes that one will trigger, but to no avail thus far. I've even tried quitting and reloading, but that changes nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So after reading the solution and some comments. I can officially say I'm lost with all this. Riddler trophies carry over but I have to save the hostages again? How is this possible if I've collected all the trophies? Do I save one right after another?

I have to do all the physical challenges twice? That doesn't make any sense.

I've got a few other questions but I'll leave this be because the chances of getting an answer here on this mass confusion is slim to none and slim just left town.

And what did you mean by "physical challenges"? If you are talking about all the gold medals, I believe it carries over to NG+ as well!

So for NG+ can we rescue the hostages right away or are they locked by story missions? Same with the side missions will all aggravated assaults be available from the start or locked behind story missions? Also do we do the physical riddler challenges twice? Cause that Doesnt make since. Does that mean we have to do Catwomans challenges twice too? Left a lot unanswered in this guide. Pretty disappointing

Got a question regarding this achievement... to get 100% on the game do we have to get 3 medals in all Predator and combat Challenges and Campaigns for Batman, Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing? Or is it just for Batman?
Also to get the achievements that are medal related for Batman we don't have to do all the maps, there are some that are not required... but are those required to get 100% on the game?

Thanks

@jbishop182 Ok, I think what your asking is that if you brother 100% his game on easy (all riddler trophies, side missions, etc) but does not complete new game +, that if you beat the game and NG+ on a different save file if the game will combine the two progresses giving you the achievement. If that's what you're asking, the answer is no. Each save file is its own entity, and has its own completion percentage (as noted when you select the save file to play).

Hopefully it's okay to ask this on here, I'm stuck with a couple riddler trophies in the Steel Mill, in the area where you find Harley Quinn tied up and you can gag/ungag her. There's some dodgem cars and an electricity generator, now I'm assuming you have to shoot the generator to pull the dodgem cars away, as they're blocking (1) a grate leading to a riddler trophy and (2) a pipe with steam coming out which you can get past by throwing a freeze blast at it, also leading to a trophy. However, the generator is now half-hidden and I can't use the REC on it to pull the dodgems away, any help would be much appreciated! :)

@PrimeBigTime,
1. After you beat the game, you will still be able to complete the side missions, free roam normal. Just won't me any main missions to do.
2. The NG+ is part of your selected fille, 'cause you need to complete the game on normal or hard and then complete the NG+ in order to complete 100% of all (you will need to complete other stuff to have that percentage). What you will do in the NG+ won't affect your progresse in the normal/hard original run, but you will carry all your equipment e upgrades to the NG+. You can switch between NG+ and your original run normally in the main menu.

NVM, I found two rooms with guards that had a pack and grabbed them. It helps if I fully explore before coming to ask for help.

I'm looking into completing all side missions before completing the NG+ main story. Haven't figured out how to get all Acts of Violence. Here is my current progress;
1-Jack Ryder before rescue cat woman
3-Before entering smoke stack - north parkrow, crane, central east of bowery
3-After line launcher b4 ninja - black canary, south of zsasz, south museum
3-Before Quincy - nw of museum, ne near ferris wheel, ne of ace chemical
3-After Vicki - w of wonder, w of ace chemical, crane w of zsasz

NG+
3-B4 catwoman - Jack Ryder, south museum, north ferris wheel 18%
3-B4 joker sniper - west museum, NE ace chemical, E alley of Zsasz 36%
3-After line launcher - N parkrow, S ace chemical, Crane riddle 52%
3-B4 Quincy - NW museum, black canary, N ferris wheel riddler 70%
3-After Vicki - W crane of zsasz, E bowery, E ace chemical 90%
(that leaves the prisoner camp or west ace chemical)

I have yet to chase down Harley and the cure. I now have all side missions complete in NG+ except for the Assaults and Frozen Tech. Seems rescuing Jack Ryder eliminates the assault in the prisoner camp.

Old game but I'm trying to finish this. Two questions that really aren't answered somewhere for some reason:
1. After I finish the game on normal, does it go to free roam so I can explore the city and do all the riddler stuff and side missions or is the game completely done and I'm screwed?
2. Is New Game + on a separate save file so I can jump between the two any time I want?

What do you mean by "half hidden". I never had a problem with those. I suspect you mean those in the room with the lone sniper and mines, where you ride inside the box on your second visit to the mill? If that didn't help, send me a PM and we'll try to figure it out!

In regard to the solution, sublime work. However, I felt it a bit misleading. What you have to do is complete the game in both modes and, in each game, complete all side-missions. Riddler's trophies are part of those missions as are the random acts of violence. I don't see why you separated them out. If you press X on your map you get a list of all side-missions as well as a tracker for your progress. To get all the Riddler missions you need 400 trophies. As you said, they need to be unlocked only once. But you still have to do the missions as it is the only way to advance the tracker.

This trophy requires that you get 100% in game progress for the entirety of Batman’s content. Catwoman or any other character’s content is not necessary for this. The list of content to complete is as follows:

  • Finish New Game story
  • Finish New Game side missions, 12 total
  • Finish New Game Plus story
  • Finish New Game Plus side missions, 12 total
  • All 400 of Batman’s Riddler challenges, including physical challenges (Genius)
  • All Waynetech upgrades: Batsuit, Gadgets, Combat and Predator (Fully Loaded)
  • All 72 Riddler’s Revenge challenge ranked map medals (Gold Revenge)
  • All 108 Riddler’s Revenge challenge campaign medals (Campaign Gold)

To 100% the game you will need the following done:

  • Complete the story on either Normal or Hard AND New Game +
  • Complete all side-missions on BOTH save files
  • Complete all 400 Riddler Challenges once (data is shared on both save files)
  • Obtain all Gadgets and Upgrades once (data is shared on both save files)
  • Obtain Gold on all Riddler's Revenge challenges (as Batman)

In other words: You will have two save files. One on either Normal or Hard difficulty and one for New Game Plus. You will need to complete the story twice, complete all side-missions twice, complete all 400 Riddler Challenges once, collect all Gadgets once, purchase all Upgrades once and complete all Riddler's Revenge challenges once.

For Riddler Challenge help, see the "Genius" achievement. For help on the Gadgets and Upgrades, see the "Fully Loaded" achievement. For Riddler's Revenge, you need all 72 Ranked medals and all 108 Campaign medals (as Batman), see "Gold Revenge" and "Campaign Gold" for help on those.
